Not Bunny related – I’m not a WoW addict anymore

To the few gamers on here

I cancelled my WoW Account today, after paying for it for two years straight, today i canncelled my subscribtion.
The new ptach was to much for my crappy little hard drive, and so I didn’t want to continue to pay for something i couldn’t even use, though I had only played maybe a handful of times the last couple months.

I have to decide if I get just a new hard drive, or actually go and finance a brand new computer (which i have never done, i always get used).  Anyone have any computer suggestions, good brands etc.?
I want a computer that will play video games (WoW and a few others), do photo and video editing and word processing. And of course CHEAP lol… as i don’t make a lot of money.

Should i get one privately built? or buy one in a store? or order online?

Don’t buy a prebuilt one, thats all i can say. The parts separate are much much cheaper. Other than that, I cna’t help much as its my hubby that builds ours lol.

Well I have a great tower in the one I have now, I could continue to use the monitor I have, though would purfer a flat screen over the huge old Tube LOL.

Hey I play WoW. I haven’t played in… like 4 months but I used to play 12+ hours a day…. so I know how you feel lol. I’m trying to curb my addiction by doing other things like schoolwork and playing with the bunny.

It’s cheapest to build your computer. The amd phenomII quad cores are like 150 now? Also if you have that you don’t need the greatest video card. I have a 250mb I got for 80 bucks and my video benchmark is very high. I think it’s because of the processor lol. Everyone thinks you need a 400 dollar video card but you don’t. Also, I play super high quality games all on the fullest settings; no problems. Also the motherboard…. Mine I think is 190 now. It’s an asus MA79T something deluxe. It’s still one of the best out. If you get the cpu and the motherboard really good quality, the other stuff you won’t even notice if you buy it cheap! Just follow the directions in the box to install, and make a list of the components you have when you go to the computer store and make sure it’s all compatible. Good luck!

I’m sorta lost with computer components

I used to play WoW for those kinds of hours over a year ago, it was bad. I wasn’t working and was depressed so yeah that ended up being my life (badbadbad). But I’m not finding it as interesting as it was when is started, and though i do like raiding and collecting stuff I don’t feel the ‘need’ to be on anymore. I would still like to try Cata when it comes out.
Building a computer myself will mean I will need all the money up front, and that may take a while, depending.

I bet blizzard made a lot of money from computer part manufacturers by upping their game graphics. Believe me you aren’t the only one that had issues. A lot of people are having to upgrade their computer now. My boyfriend wants to build himself a new one, we are waiting another month because apparently ATI is coming out with some new graphic cards in that time. My computer was custom built, we buy our parts from newegg.com
Mike really enjoys building computers. Definitely get your computer built by a computer guy/girl. The premade ones are not worth it. My boyfriend is trying to get me to upgrade mine right now but the one I want is about 1700 bucks….I don’t wanna let that money go right now when my computer is working just beautifully

I am so impressed with you, Andi! WoW is cah-razy addicting. Our friend Dan did the very same thing in college when he realized he was playing too much… except he made himself break the CD to avoid temptation!

Wow you can build a top of the line computer for HALF that…. I got a super nice case, water cooling, 16MB ram, quad core 3.6… other things for about 600…. talk to me if you’re interested lol

Breakign the cd does nothing… you can download the whole client

It CAN be addicting, I’ve gotten myself doign other thigns, liek playignw eith bunnies, doign jewelry stuff, etc, in order to not spend alot of time in WoW. Moderation is good

No it isn’t. I manage just fine I don’t play every day, these days its maybe an hour or 2 a couple times a week. People spend more time watching tv htan i do in WoW

I have been playing since open beta and I actually took 9 months off and im back on again lol. I am not really addicted to it anymore because I have been playing for 6 years, but I am just playing now because there isn’t anything else to do in the cold weather months here. Maybe I should take up a crafting hobby too

When i decided I needed to slow down, i would give myself so much time to play on certain days, and not go over it (very much lol). It was very helpful. Plus getting out of the house and having other stuff to do works too, like I took up horseback riding again. I stopped raiding as well, except for maybe 1 to 2 nights a week, adn stuck with it. Raiding takes SO much time

Heh, my friends have order a Blizzcon online ticket, so I’ll be over at their house watching it for my first time… we’re having a Blizz party LOL

I agree don’t get one prebuilt. We customized my laptop through HP for gaming, photo and video, similar to the things you are wanting, and didn’t come with all that JUNK already in it (all kinds of free trials, etc). We also built our desktop from scratch, from no particular company, and it is really good too. It’s a “mutt” computer, just like my bunny!lol

The Hubby has talked about how I need a new PC and that we coudl look into getting one built for a X-Mas present!!!! (WOOT!)
I think he wants a new one too (he needs it his is old, and i refuse to use it as it has SO much junk on it. I keep my computers tidy, my desktop has minimal stuff on it, his is FULL).

Just a heads up, I probably won’t b on the forum regularly anymore, as works changed a bit.

Actually the hours are the same, it’s my desk has changed for 6 weeks…. next to my Boss! lol… so no internet slacking LOL
I hate it b/c I get my work done so fast and am asking for more all the time, I hate trying to look busy :p
It will be good experiance for me, I should learn a lot more here. But this side of the office is so quite and bouring, I hate it. I want to be listening to music at my real desk.

Yes, I can listen to music with ehadphones (thank goodness).

So, I went to the Blizzcon party thingy, it was neat to watch the event. There was talk about us going next year.
Anyways, yapping with my friends husband, I told him how I had to cancel my account, how crappy my poor old computer was… guess he felt sorry fro me and sent me home with his old computer, WoW already installed LOL. So guess i better re-activate my account LOL
