not a good day…

 I just went upstairs to talk my mom about still being really sick and what to do…

She informed me that my dad is being sent to run a job site down in Bakersfield which is almost 5 hours away? He’s the only superintendant available and he’s the one that builds the Targets.

UHm….

They are going to set him up with an apartment and he works a few weeks then has some time off then has to go back?

I know I am 24 and I shouldn’t have the immediate reaction which is….crying …. but I still see my parents everyday since I live with them and this is going to make life so hard on my mother since my brother  just turned 19.

I don’t feel good about not seeing my dad for weeks at a time. Why would they do that to our family??? I think maybe because I was up all night coughing with no sleep has made me super sensitive today but I can’t believe I will have to go weeks without seeing my dad what the heck????

Hey Lintini,

Is it a temporary position? I know it must be hard when you’re used to seeing him everday, and he’ll probably be homesick too, but at least your mom has you and your brother there for support, and you have your mom as well to support you.

Hopefully it’ll be a short assignment and he’ll be back soon.

I actually haven’t seen my father (and whole family) more than four times a year in the last 8 years. The last two years, I’ve only seen my family once a year. They live in Milan and I’m out here in LA for work (while before, I was studying abroad). It’s hard at first, because you’re not used to it, but it gets easier.

You can talk to him on the phone, or even over the internet. I sometimes webcam chat with my family. 

Although it sounds like your dad might be back soon enough anyways

I’m sorry, Lindsey! I bet it has to do with you being run down from this sickness. At least your dad has a good job. Imagine the stress on your family if he didn’t. Maybe you will have to fill in for him a bit at home and when you do see him all the missing him will be forgotten!
Keep it together now for your mom’s sake.
I am sure you can text your dad, can you?

I know it’s just weird…I mean obviously within this year I am graduating and probably moving out the the midwest or east coast but I have time to prepare myself for being apart from my family…..this is just so sudden and strange.

I just feel so bad for my mom…and yes I am going to have to help out a lot more….between the house, dogs, cats, birds, and the horse …with one less person to help we are going to be hurting.

I’m just in shock…I see him everyday and now I won’t and it makes me very upset.

I have a friend whose mom is in her 60’s and her mom is going to be living in New York for 2 years because she is on contract to be an accountant. Her mom will be going back and forth as well too So you are not alone.

I hope that things will work out. Does your brother help out with the animals?

That sucks It’s hard having a parent gone when you are so used to having them around. It’s been a bit hard for me too, living in another country away from my mom. Haven’t seen her in over 2 years now

He’ll be back in no time, and then you can get back to annoying him with bunnies
