Noggin is in stasis

After a month of dealing with Jack’s clostridium infection, we had all been doing okay. Two happy, hoppy bunnies for the past several months. Today we woke up to find Noggin had not moved all night and was laying on her own urine soaked towel (very unlike her to go out of the litter box, or to be dirty like that). She also wouldn’t eat even her favorite treats or green. So I rushed her to the vet and they did an xray and believe she’s in stasis due to gas. She’s at home now because they don’t want to stress her by being away from Jack. The vet gave her subcutaneous fluids (about 5 hrs ago) and she’s had metacam and simethicone also. I’ve gotten her to eat about two ounces critical care but now it’s just a waiting game. She doesn’t seem in pain but is SO tired, so obviously she is in pain. The metacam should help that. But still no eating or pooping. We are so, so worried about her. Should she be getting a mobility drug as well? Can bunnies recover without them?

I haven’t had much experience with this type of situation only time I had a situation like that was a couple of days after my bunny was spayed and I was told to give my rabbit sweet potato baby food. Anyway I just wanted to say I hope she gets to feeling better.

It sounds like you and the vet have done all things right! The only thing I could add is try to get her to move her around a bit. Moving gets the gut going and will be beneficial. If you can get her to do a few laps without freaking her out/stressing her out, that would be great. Better still to do a few syringes of CC then a few laps of a room, give a couple hours of no stress (just let her relax with her buddy in her quiet home) , repeat.
Most important thing is hydration and your sub-Q is perfect. Unless you can give Sub-Q at home, keep going with the critical care to keep her hydrated.
