It’s that time of the…. wait didn’t I just got through this??

I have a 10 month old holland lop who is going through a FOURTH major coat blow this year. The interwebs said there were two, one in spring and fall which I was prepared for… I was even ready for a one time only third coat blow when he shed his baby fur into his adult coat. But now he’s at it again! Coating the house like a ginger snow storm, only he’s changing colors this time! Underneath each patch of gold tort is a fat patch of gray!

His legs and ears have always been gray and his momma was a gray tort…. What’s the deal? Do you think it’s seasonal or permanent? And really now, how many times a year does your bun go through this?

I’m prepared with the fermanator and all and am loving his new gray do but I think my lungs could use a break from being coated with rabbit hair XD XD How often does your bun go through a major shed?? I was really surprised, just kind of rolled my eyes “here we go again!”

I find it varies from year to year. This year, Bam molted from April to mid September. But it’s not the same every year.

Mine don’t really seem to have a schedule. Sterling did a big one shortly after I got him this summer and is now shedding again. There really doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to my bunnies shedding.

Bandit used to shed for at least 10 months of the year It really depends on the rabbit. It can be frustrating at times.

It can seem endless. One of mine seemed to go through back to back moults this year. Some lighter then others. I do think so many things can effect it. Season, hormones, diet even.

You might be noticing more grey because of the cooler weather. Rabbits with shading in their coats can get darker points in the cooler months.

Both of mine are still shedding a lot of hair. With Frank I assumed it was because he’s been brought indoors, Cinders is just a rebel and is following his lead I think haha

Leopold just sheds continuously. Wooly generally has 2 big ones, but it can vary.
