No More Bunnies

I am very sad to say that I have rehommed both Lunar and Atticus.

I no longer have any more rabbits. I have moved to the States and it got to the point that it did not matter where I put them or the size of the space, they just fought. I had to take Atticus to the vet 3 times to be put back together from the wounds Lunar had done.  I couldn’t bare just rehoming one and keeping the other so I rehomed both and have decided to stay bunny-free…for now.

Lunar went to a very loving home. He has gone to live with my sister’s boyfriend’s family. He has 3 kids to fuss over and love him. He is very spoiled and only goes into his cage at night. He is spoiled with lots of attention and treats. They love that rabbit to death and he is the only bunny, which is what was needed for him after all.

Atticus has gone to stay with a girl I met thru a friend. Her name is Laura too and she lives on a horse farm with all kinds of pets and another rabbit. I have reffered her to this site, I dont know if she will join. We tried a few bunny dates with both Lunar and Atticus, (at her farm in a mutual place with only one of the boys at a time to see if either one of them would get along with her little bunny…Atticus and her bunny hit it off really well so she took him instead of Lunar)

I dont think I will be on this site all that much anymore. I am very upset I chose to rehome them but felt it was the best thing for them. They were not happy living together and I did not have the space to keep them happy seperate. I did not want to make the drive to the States with them. Did not think they would do well for the long drive to Arizonia.
Please, I ask that no one leave ill comments for I am very upset as it is and that will just make me feel worse. I wanted to do what was best for them I did not feel the home I was offering was what they deserved.

I’m sorry you had to make such a hard choice, but it sounds like you put the welfare of the bunnies first. I know how hard that must have been for you, please don’t feel like you have to leave. You’re also in my prayers and thoughts,

i miss my boys very much but i know they are better off…in seperate homes. it isnt that i feel like i have to leave, i just need some time to come to gribs that they are gone. I know they are much happier in their new homes with their familes. i dont think they would have enjoyed coming to arizonia, i moved to a house with no a/c and wont be getting it any time soon so the summer here would not have been pleasent for them at all and i wanted to make sure they were happy and healthy.

I, for one, am impressed that you did such a wonderful job finding them loving homes. Sometimes people just can’t keep their animals, for one reason or another, but I imagine that few people have done as thorough a job ensuring the future happiness of their pets as you did for yours. That’s a pretty convoluted sentence, but hopefully you got the gist.

Try to take comfort in the fact that you did what’s best for them and they’ll be healthier now (no more fighting!). Buns are like people in that respect… some of them just don’t get along well!

Arizona in the summer with no A/C would have been miserable for them. Buns can have a horrible time with excessive heat.

They’re going to be healthy, happy pets, and it’s all because of you. Tell yourself that very thing every time you miss them.

You are an incredibly strong person; you put their welfare first, and that’s very admirable. Just remember how awful it would have been for them in the move, ect. rehomming them was definitely the best choice.
You did something very brave and selfless for your buns, and I’m sure they’re very thankful and love you for it. Maybe you could ask the families to send you photos with updates every once in a while? I don’t know whether that would make the separation easier or harder.
Either way, I’m proud of you and admire your compassion for your bunnies. You did something very hard so that they would be better off, and that takes a remarkable person.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. It was a 36 hour drive that I did in 3 days and it was for me a horrible drive. i dont imagine they would have done very well! being in the car for that long of a time and arizona is very warm. feels like canadas summer and it is suppossed to be coming winter here….ugh!
