        Hi all,
So I’v got a question about Captain’s cage. Ok so here’s his cage : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0756GBCJ1/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1530194592&sr=8-11&keywords=bunny+cage+indoor (Jumbo size) as you can see it has a small top layer. I used to have bedding on all of the floor (not the top layer, I’ve never put bedding up there) but then I read that I don’t really need bedding on the cage of the floor, just in his litter box, since he didn’t really seem to like the bedding anyway I changed to a fleece blanket, but now I’ve noticed whenever he’s in his cage 99% of the time he’s on the top layer where I don’t have the blanket and whenever he wants to lay down or do anything on the bottom layer he pushes the blanket out of his way first. My question is, would it be ok to not have ANYTHING on the bottom of the cage? He seems to like it that way best.

Maybe he is hanging out on the top layer because he can see what’s going on in the room? I would still leave the fleece blanket on the bottom.

One of my bunnies hates the texture of fleece blankets. She always pushes them out of the way, but she’ll lie down on rag rugs, so my buns have a combination it’s not great for their paws to have no cage lining at all, but some bunnies don’t like fleece, so definitely look into other options

Maybe you could try an old cotton t-shirt or something? Texture can vary pretty greatly among different types of fabric, so like S&L said Captain may like rag rugs or other kinds of textures instead

My bunny is a master of avoiding anything that provides friction for his paws. He very much prefers laying on the cold, tiled floor and have his paws slide around, but I only leave a small area for that and have foam mats down in the rest of the room as it’s not good for their joints if they slide all the time.
