I know females can be much more distant than males and I really do want her to get her rest… but she is so reluctant to let me handle her that I cannot check out her incision. It’s the second day since her surgery… would it be bad to wait a few more days. She is not licking anything because shes just been lounging around in her cage. Should I wait? If not, what is the safest way to handle her right now when she is probably really tender?

        Thanks!

Definitely do not try to handle her at this point. You can check the insision by using a favourite treat to get her to stand up, then take a quick peek. Or, you can slide a handheld mirror under her stomach and see if you can see anything that way.
