        Hi everyone,

I just recently adopted this little white bunny who we’ve been calling Bluebell.  She’s had a bit of a bad past – I was told her sister (& bonded friend) died during surgery to remove an eye tumor, at which point her family tried to breed her with a friend’s male rabbit so that she would have “company”.  Bluebell’s pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and after that she was not paid much attention to.  (She was not spayed after, either, so I’ve scheduled that…)  I’m told she is about a year old.

I adopted her in hopes of bonding her with my Nethie Wesley.  She is still settling in to her new home however, so in the meantime… anyone know what type of bunny she might be?  She is lanky, all white, blue eyes.  Her fur is not very thick or soft – it isn’t coarse or anything, but definitely not as soft as my dwarf’s.  She doesn’t weigh more than 2.5 lbs I would say, although she isn’t getting her check-up at the vet until next week.  I’ve already noticed she has some poor eating habits   She might be a bit underweight.

        xx

        Linds, Wes and Bluebell

These aren’t the greatest pictures, but I don’t want to bother her while she is getting used to things here.

(and a pic of Wesley, my Netherland Dwarf)

she’s gorgeous. I’m sorry I probably am not much help on the breed thing. Her ears are shorter though so that leads me to believe she has some kind of dwarf mix in her.

To me she looks like she might me a dwarf mini rex mix. she is very pretty, she is so lucky to have you after all that trauma she went through. I just wish there were more of us to take in all these buns.

She’s beautiful!!! Congratulations. She looks like she might have a little dwarf in her base on her head shape and weight.

              Wesley is too adorable btw

She is gorgeous! What a lucky bunny to have someone who cares so much for her.

Breed – I’m not entirely sure, but she is some kind of dwarf mix but really she is the best breed out there – rescued :~)

Do you know how old she may be? She does look like a dwarf rabbit to me. My diva Chacha has longer ears than a typical dwarf, and she is still dwarf

                  BTW, she is darlinggg!

She is a bit over a year from what we were told.  It is hard to tell from the pictures, but her legs are actually quite long – which makes me think she does not have too much dwarf in her.  Also her face is much more pointed than my dwarf’s.  Her general size is definitely dwarf-y though! She’s a bit of an enigma…

She may be a Florida White mix since she’s “taller”.

the one that she is huddled under the shelf of her cage, she looks exactly like my nibbles without the spots thats why I thought minni rex. with the shape of her skull and eyes and ears.

OMG. She’s so adorable. Poor little girl, so happy she found a happy home to spend her years with!

Here is another shot of her.  I originally thought Mini Rex too.  Although I have never heard of Florida White – it’s fun hearing these breed names and checking them out!  She looks like a lot of different ones..

I haven’t been able to get a good picture of her legs, but she is super-feminine looking.  Her paws are very narrow and lady-like.  It’s hard to see when she is sitting but she has a long, pretty neck too.  She definitely looks like a little girl!

The reason I don’t think she’s a rex is because she doesn’t have the wrinkled look and the curly whiskers that are characteristics of rexes.

I’m not entirely sure either on the Florida White since they usually have the red eyes. Maybe a Polish Rabbit…..

No, she’s much too small for a New Zealand.

My little one has long legs as well. The typical dwarf has very very short legs, whereas the false dwarfs will have longer legs.

i am back to thinking she is a mini rex/dwarf mix.  i think at a healthier weight, she would be around 3.5lbs. she looks too skinny to me now.  the pictures I have posted don’t really show her build.  but we will see what input the vet has for her tomorrow!

she is very sweet, but not used to being out of the cage.  i built a pretty large bunny “condo” for her, and when i leave it open, she will come out and explore, but then runs back into the cage after a minute or two.  she isn’t set on how much she likes people either… apparently she was a gift to a little girl in her last family, and I think her experience with humans was alternately being ignored for long periods of time and then getting grabbed, maybe handled too roughly.

The whole not a dwarf/is a dwarf thing is confusing to me still. She has some similarities to my bunjamin with the long legs, narrow feet and skinnier head. Although I don’t know what bunjamin is either so that’s not helpful

I think it’s great you rescued her. I have never seen blue-eyed white bun but she is beautiful. And of course Wesley is adorable as well.

I’m sorry guys — I find this thread absolutely hysterical but yet very interesting. I’ve been trying to acquaint myself with the different breeds recently because I find them all so cute and I’m already googling about buns 24/7 anyways — googling as ChaCha would say “how to be a better slave”. She is so gorgeous though. I love the white but the whole bright white, red eyes animals have always scared me so it’s REALLY intriguing to see a blue-eyed one! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

believe me, I am confused too  the last owner said that she was a dwarf – but I’m not sure if they meant Netherland Dwarf or just a small breed.  that is where the to be a dwarf / to not be a dwarf question is coming from
