Hello all,
My name is Kay, I’m 22 years old and I’m living in a place called Macau which is a SAR of China.
I’d like to first start by telling you all about my boy, Rooney whom I owned from August 2010 until his death in Dec 2011. Rooney was an albino rabbit who was bought in a market (sold as meat) by my friend. She had bought him as a pet for her son but they had to move to another country and it wasn’t possible to take Rooney with them. So I took him on. He was born in March 2010 though his original purpose was to be raised as food – very common in China. I think Rooney had a pretty decent lifestyle. I had a hutch constructed for him, which he loved and he had run of the garden for at least 4 hours a day. I had him neutered pretty much as soon as he came to live with me in August 2010 which aided in his litter training. He litter trained really quickly and I could let him run around the house, he’d always go back and pee in his litter box. Such a good boy. I had planned to get Rooney a hutchmate as I felt he missed other rabbits company and had introduced him to an older female at a local rehoming shelter but it wasn’t to be. Rooney passed away on Christmas Eve 2011. I don’t want to go into any details of how he died as it upsets me too much. Strangely, the girl I was considering adopting as a hutchmate for Rooney passed away the following week.
Rooney loved hay – Timothy Hay especially. He had a little amount of pellets daily plus unlimited hay. He was given fresh vegetables on a daily basis. His favourites being red/green peppers, broccoli, okra, bok choi, choi sam, cabbage, lettuce and carrots. He never had any health troubles. Everything was in working order and he’d never had an upset tummy from anything he ate.
These are a few pics of Rooney

I’ll never forget him. He was my baby and he loved to curl up with me on the sofa to watch tv. I miss him so much.
My boyfriend knew how much I missed Rooney (lots of tears on his shoulders) and so bought me a tiny munchkin I named Doyskii. We had gone into a pet shop here that sells a lot of exotic pets – snakes, lizards etc. I was looking after a friend’s cats and had to buy more food for them and that is the only store that stocks it. Doyskii was in a hutch inside the store looking really cute. I asked about him and they told me he is a purebred Dwarf Hotot imported from France and that he’s eight months old. He’d been in the pet store for almost two months and no one had shown any interest in him. After spending about an hour playing and handling him in the store a decision was made. Doyskii was coming home. I hadn’t wanted to buy a rabbit, I wanted to adopt but the shelter only had one available and she was not nice. She was a biter and was always grumpy. I didn’t want a rabbit that I couldn’t handle.
A week after paying the deposit, little Doyskii came home. I named him Doyskii as my boyfriend’s nickname is Doy. He is now 9 months old and as I said he is a Dwarf Hotot. I got him castrated the week after I got him and we’re still working on litter box training. He still makes the occasional mistake but he tries. He is a very sweet boy and always licks my hands when I handle him. He’ll sit on my lap for hours just to be petted and tickled. He’s a typical DH – white with black rings around his brown eyes.

A friend of mine had also bought a small bunny from the same pet store as Doyskii. A little female French Lop. She hadn’t realised that her youngest daughter was actually allergic and so she asked me if I would consider taking on the little bun. I immediately accepted, knowing I’d want Doyskii to have a bunny friend. So little Minstrel also joined the family. She is about three months old and is tiny. She had been undernourished when my friend had bought her and after a trip to the vet and a deworming injection little Minstrel has started to gain weight. She and Doyskii socialise together daily although under strict supervision until she gets spayed. Doyskii is castrated already but I don’t want to take any chances – he still tries to hump her occasionally. Minstrel was named after the Galaxy Chocolates Minstrels (one of my favourites). I was contemplating changing both their names to Moët and Chandon but instead made them Doyskii Moët and Minstrel Chandon. Minstrel is white with brown patches and long lopped ears. She should eventually grow to be bigger than Doyskii.

They are currently eating a mixture of Timothy and Grass Hay – provided 24/7 and are on a small, daily amount of young rabbit pellets. They have fresh veg daily, mainly greens as these are Miss Minstrel’s favourite. Anything green, she adores.
I hope you all like my buns xx
