Hi!
I’ve seen this forum mentioned around a couple of places so I thought I would give it a whirl
I have three rabbits currently and all are precious, gorgeous bunnies (I promise this isn’t biased…okay mostly…)
This is Bentlee (but we mainly call him Bent Bent):

I know it’s a horrible quality photo, so here is one more. I’ve had Bent the longest, coming up on a year and I cannot adore him more (I adore all of them immensely, of course
). He’s the sweetest, most lovable and cuddly bunny I’ve ever interacted with. He loves getting petted and has fallen asleep in my arms plenty of times!! He’s really laid back and loves lounging around. I really lucked out with him because he was the perfect bunny to start out with! He’s also the blame for how smitten I am now ![]()
Question pertaining to Bent: Does anyone know what breed he is? I know the likelihood of him being pure-bred is really, really low. I was thinking some kind of Chinchilla mix? I’ve done the ring test (which turned out positive) but I am not sure if he meets the standards for the breed(s) weight-wise. I haven’t had him properly weighed in a while, I’m afraid. I’d estimate he’s a good 6-9 pounds, though
He’s a little over a year, probably born sometime in late November/early December (as I got him in early February) of last year.
This is Gus (who we recently have found out is a girl…so a renaming might be in order xD–got any name ideas? :3):
.jpg)
He’s super sweet and feisty and loves running around and making a ruckus! He’s also really nosy and adorable. He’s a treat to have around. I’m guessing he’s around six months old. Also, does anyone have any idea what breed he is? I’m not entirely positive. I got him from a pet store (I know, a bad choice, but at least he has a good home
) and I’m guessing he’s some sort of Mini Rex mix? Here’s a pic of him when he was a baby for better reference?
And last but certainly not least, we have Hecklin (who is also a girl..so I probably need to rename her as well, because I was under the impression she was a boy haha):

She’s really sweet. Doesn’t like being held/handled much but has never once bitten me or nibbled me. I really want to bond with her more because she’s a fantastic rabbit but she’s so timid and shy. I think it’s because of how she was brought up (from my understanding the home she came from she had little-to-no interaction with people. She’s about 9 months old, I’d say.
Those are my buns!
I hope to make some new friends here!!
Welcome Bunnied! Hope you enjoy BB! Your buns total cuties. =] I would say give Hecklin some more time to get cuddly with you.
welcome!! buns are so cute!!!
Hi.
Bent does look like a standard chinchilla which averages around 7.5 pounds.
awww your Gus reminds me so much of my Charley. Her ears are larger though. Gus’s ears look like ***maybe*** she has some lop in her, the way they flare at the ends and kinda go outwards a bit. But it could be that one of her parents was a lop mix, or even farther back. Charley is only a few months old now, but your description of Gus and the pic of her standing on her hind feet are identical to Charley. Im not sure what type of bunny Charley is, but I’ve also always thought a mini rex mix. All the whiskers and her stature remind me of a Polish (her ears are very polish like, but I’ve noticed are having a growth spurt now).
In my first post here someone mentioned that Charley resembled an english lop /mini rex mix that they had as a child. It’s really hard to tell though. A lot of rabbits sold to pet stores from people were from accidental or experimental breedings “mutts” and you never really know lol.
Here’s Charley so you can see how similar they look (broken blue color, fur, whiskers). Charley is also a girl.

welcome to the forum!!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome ![]()

Ahh, yes I thought so! Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels that way XD
And I thought there might be some lop in her, but I wasn’t sure! But like you said you can never tell with pet store rabbits which is really sad, I really wish pet stores would take more care and do more research from where they get their animals from
The guy I got Gus/Bent from told me that spaying/neutering rabbits was unnecessary because rabbits almost never make it…sigh, he obviously has no idea what he is talking about on that front.
Oh my gosh, Charley is so, so, so cute! She’s adorable I just want to cuddle her :3 Her and Gus do look A LOT a like, but like you said, there are some differences. I think Gus might be a little slimmer, also? I’ve been trying to put a little weight on all of my rabbits but everything I’ve tried doesn’t work. They’re all healthy, though.
The picture of Gus standing up looks about the same size as Charley. Her fur is very thick and she looks fatter than she is lol. When I first got her I didn’t realize how frail she was under her fur until I handled her more. I used to worry about how bony she was, esp when I looked at other peoples pictures. I am starting to think she’s just going to be slim or not fill out til shes older, unless everything catches up to her at once and shes a fatty lol. Something else I have noticed the past week is she appears to be getting a dew lap, I thought they didn’t get those til they were older or larger breeds, so I was actually going to ask about that on here.
It would be cool if we knew exactly what breeds they were. I’ve always wondered how big Charley would wind up being. Im assuming avg or small, but sometimes I read stories where buns grew way larger than expected so I dont know what to think. But mixed breeds are usually healthier and more genetically sound and make great pets, so I am happy to have her =)

Ahh! Okay, that makes sense then. She’s a beautiful rabbit nonetheless. And I know, right? Gus was this huge ball of fur, and I thought she was a little chubby, but when I picked her up for the first time I was like “oh my gosh, you need some meat on your bones!” And I know what you mean. Gus is so tiny, I’m so worried she’s not getting the proper nutrients she needs, but I’m guess it’s just her genes. Like you said I hope she fills out when she’s older. Really? None of my bunnies have one but I’ve heard of bunnies getting them when they were a little younger? .
And yes, I know! I’ve always wondered myself. Gus isn’t so big yet, but she’s only six/seven months at most, and I know how much a bunny can grow in a span of six/seven months. It looks like Gus/Charley will end up being around the same size though XD
And yes, I know what you mean! They all bring such a light to my life that the breed doesn’t exactly matter (more for curbing my curiosity) as long as they’re happy and healthy I’m happy ![]()
