Alright here’s how it is. I have had Lopez an unknown breed of rabbit for 3 years, I adopted him when he was one. We’ve recently moved to a house from an apartment, and he wasn’t adjusting very well and seemed like he needed a friend. So we went to the local shelter and picked out a cute girl for him, Leah, she is a Lionhead mix and she’s 1.

I knew bonding wouldn’t happen right away, and I admit I was very much unaware at how complicated it can be but have since read plenty. The first time they were introduced Lopez face mounted, which we immediately broke up, but today, 2 days later I see that he has a bit of a wound down there. I don’t normally pick him up like a baby and that’s why I hadn’t noticed yet. He seems to be using the bathroom normally, he hasn’t had any trouble marking his territory around Leah, and there hasn’t been any blood. He does lick down there. How would I go about treating it? The skin around it had a pinkish color to it. Should I take him to the vet first thing tomorrow or see how it heals?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

If the skin is broken, you could put some neosporin without pain relief in it on the wound, that helps it to heal. If it gets all puffy and red, take him in, as it could be infected.
