I currently have a 7 year old purebread holland lop, and he is so loving and terrific. I’ve had him less than a year and he has certainly adapted. I made him a c and c cage, but he started out in a store bought cage (about 4 feet by 3 feet) and still have that cage. I have completely cleaned it out and disenfected it since he’s been in there. I have been looking into adopting another bun to have as another friend and to help save another rabbit (my Jordan was a rescue). Should I do this? Jordan is currently a free roam rabbit and is not fixed.

I think it’s great that you want another bunny and especially because you’d like to rescue another.

A couple of things you need to think about before getting another bunny…
You would need to get Jordan fixed before bonding him with another bunny, even if your new bunny is also male. He’ll probably be very territorial.
Another thing is vet bills etc – can you afford paying for two rabbits?

If both of those are manageable then sure, rescuing another bun would be great

As Garfy says, the first thing to do before you can get another bunny is get Jordan neutered. The new bunny will need to be spayed or neutered too.

Unfortunately, rabbits are territorial creatures, and can’t just be put together – it involves a long (at least 2 month) bonding process. I advise you spend a bit of time in the Bonding forum, so you can read other people’s stories and see what you’d be committing too, as it can be a very time consuming and stressful process… But, when you see two bunnies happily snuggled together, it’s totally worth it!
