Hey all! I just adopted a second rabbit yesterday. He has a check up at the vet on Monday but I am noticing that his stool is loose and comes out in what seems to be more than would be in a normal pellet poo. Almost like diarrhea except not watery. He also smells pretty bad but I’m wondering if that is just the combination of the stools and the pet store smell. Could the abnormal stool just be from the stress of living in a new place and being away from the rabbits he was with at the pet store?

When I got my rabbit, from a breeder she had that problem too. I’m not certified but I’ve been told that it’s because of stress and change in diet, make sure to feed the same thing a little bit longer (atleast 3 more days)

Likely he may not have had an appropriate diet in the pet store. Focus on feeding hay, and not too many pellets and the stools should firm up. The smell will be from the poops and possibly pee on the fur from pet store cages most likely. It will go away in a couple of weeks once he’s cleaned up and stops getting waste on himself
