New non-bunny addition!!

Hello everyone! I would like for you to meet Kili! (Kee-lee) Kili is obviously not a bunny, she’s of the cat family! My family currently actually has quite a few pets, we have 7 total but Kili just bumped it up to 8! 

2 1/2 weeks ago, my mom was outside in the front yard & a kitten from down the street a little cried out to her from under a car trying to keep warm & scurried over to my mom crying. My mom called me outside, she was the sweetest cat! She immediately started loving on me & snuggling in my lap. She was really skinny, so we got her food & a box to set up on the porch outside.

Well of course soon enough, she used her sweetness to get me to let her sleep in my bed We called the humane society every morning trying to get her in but they were full. 

We had her 2 weeks before one morning my mom tells me they are accepting kittens 2-4 months old but it’s first come first serve. Feeling like it was the right thing to do for her, we took her in. Both my mom & I were secretly hoping the line would be too long by the time we got there & we wouldn’t get in. But we were first in line. So then we were hoping she would be over the age limit. Which she was, but they took her anyway. We filled out all the paperwork & released all rights over to the humane society. Immediately after leaving, we had a gut wrenching regret & cried on the whole way back home. The following 2 days, we were still feeling regret & worried that it may be impossible for us to adopt her back but the humane society told us we could! As long as we fill out an application to be approved for adoption.

The night after sending in my application, I asked my mom if we could just go visit her, not knowing how long it takes for the application to be approved. We expected to walk out of the humane society still waiting for the application approval but ended up being helped by a lady to sit down with a counselor & begin the adoption process! We paid the adoption fee that night & were required to come back the following day (today) to finalize the adoption! She’s unable to come home until Wednesday, as they need to spay her first, but my mom & I were so relieved that we’re getting her back!

She has mostly been kept away from the rest of the pets but I have let them interact a little bit while she was here. The dogs are very excited about her so I will be working with them daily until they calm down & get used to her. My current cat has been an only cat ever since he was 9 weeks old. He’s hissed & growled at Kili but I did get them nose to nose one night so I think that’s progress!!

This cat is basically a dog in a cat’s body. She wants to be cuddled & pet 24/7, you can even touch her paws & rub her belly, she’s talkative, loyal, follows you wherever you go, she will lick your hands & face for days if you let her, I even played fetch with her! I fell instantly in love! We had her indoor/outdoor but 2 neighborhood cats started to pick on her, pinning her down & chasing her into the tree, so I stayed out there with her & chased them off. I can’t wait to be reunited with her!

Awww…what a sweetie! Hoping she settles back in well when you bring her home again. Having three cats, two of which get on okay with one another, but the third hates the other two with a passion, I can understand where some irritation from the established cat might be possible. Hopefully you’ll have better luck with it than I did.

Thanks everyone! She just came home last night! When we went to pick her up, there was one more surprise; the humane society found out she was already microchipped prior to us bringing her in!

Apparently she was microchipped by the Animal Care Services & was placed in foster care (I’m guessing with someone in my neighborhood) & somehow she got out & found me! This little girl has definitely been around haha. She’s made herself quite at home already, feels like she never left

She also had her first up close encounter with the bunnies today, poor little thing is so scared Mimzy isn’t lunging at her anymore, but both bunnies come really close to her, they’re not afraid & the kitty runs off to hide lol. & she’ll be getting a new name as soon as my family can all agree one 1

We just finally agreed on a name tonight! Her name will be Klementine My dad really wanted Sierra, it came down to Klementine, Sierra, Makenna, or Pepperdine (Pepper for short). Told my mom I’ll be ok with any of those so Klementine it is!
