New member, long time lurker. Usually if I have a question about my rabbit, the information I find on binkybunny has always been helpful. I finally decided to join due to a quick decision move I posted about in the Q&A section.
Now to meet the bun. I have a 4 year old Havana bunny named Meketaten (Mekh-eht-AH-ten). Named for the ancient Egyptian princess of the 18th dynasty, daughter of the famous queen Nefertiti. If not already obvious, I’m an archaeology major in college with a strong lean towards ancient Egypt.
I got Meki from the breeder I got my other rabbit, Nefertari (see the pattern?), from. When I had Nefertari, Havanas were only accepted in blue, black, and chocolate. But now “broken” or spotted varieties are accepted and shown. Meki’s breeder was attempting to breed a broken blue and a black rabbit to get broken blacks and ended up with two bunnies, an all-black male and a female who was all black with a single white spot on her nose, disqualifying her from being shown. Since I had no intentions of showing this bunny, I gladly took in the white-nosed little muffin now named Meketaten =) Had her since she was 8 weeks old and she’s been my snuggle baby ever since!
