        Hello there,

I’ve been a long time member over at Rabbits Online (since 2011) and finally decided to bite the bullet and join yet another forum (I’m a member of way too many for different interests etc!). I really just wanted to get involved in even more rabbit discussion, and as this forum has a house-rabbit focus it was why I joined here I’ve been reading many posts from this forum for such a long time, it really was just time I joined.

Currently I don’t have a rabbit, I was bunny slave to Bandit (in my avatar), 3 year old neutered smoke pearl. Unfortunately he passed away on January 3rd after a terrible accident ruptured his cecum. So this last month has been a bit of a recovery from that, though I am wanting to adopt another rabbit in the coming months. At the moment it is on hold while I still get a handle on losing Bandit, but also to wait until we’re in a better situation financially as my husband is looking for work. The potential costs of spay/neuter if not done already plus the inevitable purchasing of new bunny toys and other things that is bound to happen at adoption will add up quickly. I know that I just won’t be able to help myself.

In my endless spare time now that I’m not chasing after a bunny, I work, film for my youtube channel, go hiking and camping, photograph birds, indulge in my shameless love for The Lion King franchise, and generally just hang out with my husband and watch netflix

I look forward to joining in the discussion

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Bandit. He was beautiful.

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! I’m sorry about your sweet Bandit. He was a very handsome guy.

You will know when the time is right to bring home another bunny. One of the benefits of adopting from a rescue is that they almost always spay and neuter their rabbits. Some shelters (humane societies) do that also. It really does save a lot of money, plus it’s easier on everyone if the bunny can come home with you and you don’t have to turn around in a few days and take him off to the vet for surgery.

Thank you for the welcome etc  While it has been terribly difficult losing Bandit, I’m actually looking forward to the opportunity it brings of giving another rabbit a home.

While there are general animal rescues here that do have all rabbits spayed/neutered before adopting, my local rabbit rescue (the only one) does not always have the funds to spay or neuter before they adopt out a rabbit. The times that they don’t they provide a discount voucher for desexing from a rabbit savvy vet. So there is a chance I may have to do that, which is fine by me.
