        Hey!

        I’m very new to this.. So apologies if this is posted in the wrong spot/for the huge essay… But I really needed some advice.

        My gorgeous rabbit, Harley Quin, is acting very peculiar.. I first noticed when she drinks, the water was dribbling down her face. So I took her to the vet, on Friday, thinking it was an abscess. Her teeth are perfect, but she has lost about 700g in two months, I’m not sure if it happened quickly, or if it happened slowly. Now, she does have a boyfriend, Wintson, who eats EVERYTHING (I mean he will hop onto my plate and steal my food, very cute, but very naughty.. I let him at least take my spinach :p). So I’m not quite sure if he is just eating all her food before she can get to it, or if she is really sick. The vet said give it a week, feed her separately and feed her food with higher calories.

        Three days have passed and Harley is being REALLY picky with her food. She used to love bok choy and now won’t have a bar of it.. She used to hate spinach and now won’t stop eating it. She won’t touch grass or hay as much and she is drinking plenty of water (maybe too much?.. but it has been really hot lately too). She has been really lethargic, but as soon as I go into the kitchen, she bolts over and begs for more food?

        I’m really quite confused. One minute she is her usual bulging self and then the next she’s hiding in the corner? Could she just be really weak from losing so much weight? I was supposed to take her back to the vet this Friday, but I ended up changing it to Wednesday because she is making me too anxious.

        She is spayed, has had her vaccinations and is a house bunny. She never goes outside, she is also pooping and urinating normally too.

        Thank you!

          Mmm… I would probably get her teeth checked under sedation. And some bloodwork done also. It may also be worth testing for E. Cuniculi also.
          Hope the vet visit goes well Wednesday! {{{Harley Quin}}}

            Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate it!

            Her teeth were x-rayed and checked in October. She had some spurs, but nothing major and they were all filed down. When the vet checked again last Friday and he said her teeth still looked beautiful, no weird lumps, no sign of abscess and last time her teeth were bad she kept going into gut stasis. How she is acting right now is very different to how she acted last time.

            I am definitely going to request blood work and I did research E. Cuniculi, so I planned on asking him about that too, but the symptoms of that seem so extreme compared to how she is acting.. then again, it could just be the beginning of it.

              Keep in mind that rabbit teeth can overgrow at the roots, as well as on the exposed tooth surface, however given that he did an x-ray I expect he would have picked up on that back in October.

                He did say that, in the x-ray they were fine, but he did tell me to keep an eye out just incase. He said if I felt any weird lumps under her jaw to come back. So I have been checking daily. I always check under her chin for slobbers just incase too.

                She has perked up a little since I posted this too, which is fantastic!!
