Pebbles had a good size ex-pen (4’x8′) for when she was unsupervised, but I wanted her to have more space and to be able to see out the window. She kept getting on her hind legs to peak over the windowsill.

I assembled a two level “bunny condo” with a ramp between floors then attached it to the pen. She has two litter boxes so I put one in the cage and left one in the pen. I left her in the pen with the cage door open. I came back 20 minutes later to see her on the top level of the cage, laying down  and looking out the window. She hopped around and ate the parsley I gave her. I put her little sleeping box up there.  She went in and took a nap. I thought “wow that was easy”.

Wrong! Now 9 hours later she is still in the top of the cage and won’t come down.   Should I put her litter box on the top level or wait for her to come down on her own? I have a vet appointment for her tomorrow. Will I have to take her out be force?

I’ve only had her a couple months but normally she will go into her carrier on her own when I put it out, so I hadn’t considered making her come out of a cage or pen.

Just to confirm, the way to get down is obvious? You can do a small treat trail down so she learns how to get down. Does she seem scared or like she wants to come down?

If it’s her typical sleeping time, staying up there and not pooping is normal. Rabbits seem to like to perch on high levels when relaxing.

If she isn’t pooping or peeing in general and looks discomforted, yes the vet is wise.
