  So I just adopted a new bunny and hes adorable, but how long should I let him have some space to himself before taking him out of the cage for exercise and when should I start attempting to pet him?

  It depends on the bunny. Sometimes they are skittish and need extra time to adjust. If he seems skittish, give him a week to settle. Just let him get used to your normal household noises and routines. If he seems curious, you can work on bonding whenever you feel comfortable. Either way, it’s best to start out slow. Let him out in a confined area to explore. Sit on the floor near him, but don’t try to touch him just yet. Ignore him at first and allow him to come to you. Offer him treats. It will go a long way in forming a bond with him later on because he will learn he can trust you (i.e. he’ll learn that you’re not going to try to pick him up or pet him all the time).
