Hi so this last saturday my guinea pig pasted away and it was a great loss.Well once we get back from vacation my moms letting get a rabbit! Im really excited and have been doing tons of research.I know that some of a rabbits needs are the same/similar to guinea pigs.
Really any helpful info or tips would be awsome.

So for his/her cage im using my old grid and coroplast(not really that old) well i wanted to know some of the things i could use(also where i could get it) to put on the coroplast to make it softer and to put ontop of the upper levels. Thanks!

Try going to a WalMart or larger grocery store late at night and asking them if they have any big boxes (try the cereal aisle, they will be big and will not have been in contact with dangerous chemicals) or the sheets of cardboard found on pallets to divide dairy pallets (these are around 4″x4″) and are the dairy ones will again be safe to use with buns. Cardboard is soft and ok for a bun to tear up unless it has been around chemicals.
You can also get carpet samples (I found mine at a dollar store). Towels and blankets are also popular as long as the bun doesnt eat them. Whatever you use, just make sure it doesnt have tape or staples or anything else that can be dangerous.
Also, remember to check out shelters or bunny shelters when youre looking for your new bun! Baby bunnies are great but older buns from shelters will most likely have already been spayed/neutered and their personalities will be more developed.
          Welcome and good luck!!!!

big cardboard boxes, you can also purchase mats from these websites that are safe for bunnies and last a really long time http://www.busybunny.com/ I buy the xtra large mats in bulk way cheaper and one mat last my buns about 2 months. http://www.bunnybytes.com/cgi-bin/start.cgi this site is also great for toys for the buns. Will this be your first rabbit or have you owned a rabbit before. With my female she chews everything so the straw mats are great and make suer she has plenty of chew toys so she can play with. Hope you have fun. I am glad your getting your rabbit from a humane society and not a pet shop!
