Hello everyone i own a 8 week old Netherland dwarf and mini lop mix. I have had her for about 5 days and she is very sweet. Just have a few questions on what’s best for her. Right now she has her own room it’s a big room. I also built her a two floor house with a litter box on each floor and also in corners of the room. I feed her young bunny pellets twice a day as well as give her a lot of hay. That’s her summary and here are my questions and once again to anyone who answers thank you so much I have depression and she has been a blessing for me

1 her room has central air but I been scared to have it on. What’s the right temperature for her room?
2 how much pellet should I feed her if I feed her to little she seems way to hungry and I don’t want to over feed her
3 when I come into her room she’s normally sitting there doing nothing. Is that ok? She isn’t hiddimg she’s sitting right out in the open
4 she doesn’t eat to much hay is that a problem?
5 how much time should I spend with her?
6 and lastly she seems very happy when she’s with me on my bed but all she really does is sleep when she’s on my bed. Is that ok? She licks me a lot and just snuggles up next to me I just want to be sure it’s ok for her to sleep so much next to me. She would flop down and lay there while licking me I just want to make sure it’s ok for her to sleep so much as I let her lay in my bed from 3pm toll 7pm and all it did was sleep wake up run around and flop down next to me and sleep again. Thank you all!!!!

Hello and congrats on getting your bun Without further ado…

          1) Personally, I wouldn’t keep her room at a constant temperature all the time, she needs to feel the cold/the hot to molt correctly. So I’d say anything between +18°C and +28°C is fine. My bun’s tested down to 15°C and up to 35°C (cause here summers are criminally hot even with A/C). Anything you do, set the A/C in a way that she doesn’t catch the draft of cold air.

          2) Did you already take her to the vet for a general check up? In case you haven’t, do book that appointment. After she’s been weighted, the vet will be able to tell you if the dose suggested on the pellet’s packaging is good for her. As for my vet’s opinion, he says that as long as there’s hay to munch on it doesn’t matter if the pellets or the veggies fall a little short. Also… buns are always hungry, so I’d definitely trust a vet’s opinion over her appetite!

          3) Yep, seems like she’s feeling secure and cozy.

          4) A lot of buns are picky hay eaters. Just give her time to adjust to her new life and if she is still picky in a month or two consider to switch brands or to offer her 100% pressed hay pellets

          5) As long as it’s quality time (petting, brushing, playing, talking), even 30 mins a day can do if you’re really busy. My bun lives in my study/play area, so I’m stuck with him for a looong time every day, but he does fine even in periods when I can’t be with him more than one hour.

          6) Buns sleep a LOT. I’d say they sleep and lazy around more than cats!

She sounds like a very sweet, confident and fine little bun bun Lucky you!

As a baby bunny she should be getting at least 1/2 cup to unlimited of pellets per day. This is because she’s growing and not eating greens yet, the pellets help to give her complete nutrition and ensure she’s growing properly.
