So I got a new bunny yesterday. He is 6 weeks old. He has a cage with food, water, carrots, hay, an igloo for him to sleep or hide in. I let him run around my room and explore and I put him on my bed and he nibbles at my legs and hands and he sniffs and smells me. He laid down on me for about 10 minutes and gave me kisses. Is there anything else I can do to make my little guy more adjusted to his new home? Will he start to love me? Tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Also do you guys have bunnies that like to cuddle or sleep with you? I want mine to be like that!

Welcome and congratulations!! Sounds like your doing great! You’ll want to do more green vegetables as opposed to too many carrots. You can read more about rabbit diet here https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/2/PID/940/Default.aspx But it sounds like your doing well and that your bunny is already exploring the environment and you.

When I got my very first rabbit we basically just watched her-we followed her if she went into other rooms, and we made really good friends that way. She explored and got confident and we really got to learn about how they behave Sitting on the ground with your rabbit and some healthy treats (like raisins or Oxbow treats) is a good way to make friends.

Bromley is a total cuddle monster and it is one of the greatest feelings in the world! But don’t be disappointed if your new bun isn’t, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you did something wrong. Cuddly by bunny standards is that they like to lay on you or against you. They don’t like to be smothered by your arms around them like cats or dogs. It really depends on your buns personality, some are just more cuddly than others. You do have an advantage though because he is young and could learn that human touch is awesome! Bromley was about 7 weeks when I got him and I made sure to have him sit on my lap as much as he would let me in those first formative weeks. I agree with Kokaneeandkahlua about sitting on the ground with treats and that is the method I always used with my more nervous rescue bunnies. I always sat with Brom during play time and rewarded him with hay (ya, he was easy to please lol) when he came over. Even now at 6 months old and a traumatic neutering experience barely behind us he still spends much of his out of cage time sitting with me.
