        Hey everybun!

I will be a new bunny mamma in 19 days!!! Anyways, I’ve done plenty of research on litter box training, hay, pellets, veggies, etc. Also, I will definitely be getting him neutered when he gets of age! I’m making this forum though to ask YOUR advice! What do you wish you new when you first got your bun? What’s a common mistake new rabbit owners may make? If you went back in time what would you do differently? When taking him home, what are your best tips for bonding with him? I’m going to be getting a young bun (a little over 8 weeks!) Tips on dealing with a young bunny? How’d you transition their food? When did you start doing clicker/agility training? Did you make any mistakes you regret? Let me know!

Hi! I wish I had known They would need more space, 6 hours of out of cage time everyday, expensive vet visits. That is what I wish I had known. To bond with him, you can sit in the same room as him and read a book. When I do this, Cocoa will climb on whatever I’m doing to get my attention. Lily will ignore me. You can also get a little ball and roll it to him, then you can teach him to roll it back. I got my two bunnies when they were 8 weeks old. When you bring him home, you should already have his litter box set up. When he gets to the hormonal age, he may bite you a lot. I had bruises on my side where they bit me. Try to stay calm and don’t yell, just do a high pitched yelp. It can be difficult to not get upset. I haven’t done any training with my bunnies who are now 7 months old. If you have to be gone for long periods of time during the day, some bunnies like having a stuffed animal. I gave one of my bunnies a stuffed animal that smelled like me since I had to be gone for a while and she won’t let anyone else hold her or pet her. She freaked out when I took it out of her cage. She flipped over the mat it had been sitting on, trying to find it. Your bunny may like to have a stuffed animal. I hope you enjoy having your new bunny!

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT use litter or hay as bedding in their cage. They will use the entire cage as a litter box and if you are unlucky you will discover this a week in.

So exciting! And really good that you’re doing lots of research first what bunny are you getting?

I think the first mistake we made was to fill the entire base of his tray with bedding, he didn’t understand what was his cage and what was his toilet – once we removed the bedding from the cage and just had stuff in his litter tray he caught on super quickly.

I would take him to the vet as soon as you can after getting him home just to get a once over – our bun came to us with very bad teeth and I wouldn’t want the same thing to happen to you.

To bond with him, just lay down on the floor and ignore him until he comes to you. This will prove to him you’re not their to harm him and he’ll want to get your attention. It’s the best feeling when you enter a room and your bun runs up to you and asks to be pet!

Make sure he’s got a nice large set up as he needs a lot of space outside of his cage to run around

Food wise, I just started with a small amount of everything and he’s been fine never had a problem with new foods.

Hopefully I’ve given you the answers to some of your questions! Please do share photo’s when you get him!
