Hi,
I’m new. I am going to a bun-mum to three bunnies, two siblings and one former “easter” bunny, James. They are all holland lops. The two siblings are being sexed and vet checked this coming Monday, by an exotics vet. Their mum was found on the side of a road in her cage and taken home by a friend. She had surprise babies three weeks later. James is coming from a family friend, whose daughter lost interest in him, he hasn’t been neutered as is about 1.5 years old. I am going to have him vet checked as well as want to neuter him too, but I am concerned about spreading any diseases between the bunnies. I don’t think that James has had the best vet care and I am really worried about getting the babies sick. My plan so far is as follows:
1)Separate cages until one month after all neuters.
2)Sanatized cages, bottles, litterboxes, and crocks.
3)James is coming home about a month earlier than the babies.
4)Well-Bunny Vet Check with a fecal float, bacterial culture, blood work, flea treatment, and any other treatments the little guys may need.
I have stockpiled toys, hay and feed. I have a dedicated bunny area and am trying to learn as much as I can about rabbits. Any advice or reassurance would be great. And yes I realize bonding bunnies can be difficult, but I am willing to have them all be fence neighbors if need be.
thanks
