This is my first post on here, so sorry if its a little long.
My husband and I just adopted bun from our local humane society, he’s our 3rd bun. So far he’s been shy and reserved which is to be expected in a new home/environment. He’s a almost 4 year old dwarf mix.
I’m worried because he makes this strange cooing or almost wheezing/squeaking noise sometimes. I know that can sometimes be an indicator of respiratory issues, but upon calling the humane society and asking about this they said he seemed to make these noises when being slightly stressed out(if there were lots of people in the room where he was kept being noisy for example). But they said he had no respiratory issues to their knowledge. And we do have his medical records from them, none of which say anything about respiratory issues either. Under the lungs category(on his vet records) it says “sniffing” -but I don’t know if that means his breathing/lungs are normal?
I’ve noticed him making these noises while resting very rarely though if you sit close to him and listen you can still hear very slight squeakiness. It’s the loudest is when he’s cleaning himself or bent over eating his cecal poops.
I’ve also noticed he’s been shedding excessively- which I don’t know if its just the season change or if its health related. Because our other 2 buns have never shed that much EVER since the time we’ve had them. He has tufts sticking out that you can literally just pull out clumps of hair, but there are no bald spots at all.
I’m probably overreacting, but I’m just worried about our new little friend. He has a vet appointment next week Thursday, so hopefully we’ll get some answers. But in the mean time what are everyone’s thoughts? Any suggestions or tips?
