Hi, I’m new here and just wondering what people’s thoughts are on something Buster has recently started doing.
As a bit of background, he is a netherland dwarf cross, and we’ve had him for 3 years. He is about to turn 4. He is a house rabbit, and is free range in the kitchen 24/7, plus the rest of the house when I’m home to watch him and ensure he’s on his best behaviour
He is neutered.
In the last couple of days, he’s been doing something I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen from him before. Whenever I go into the kitchen, or whenever he hears the treat tub opening, he has taken to running around my legs in circles, making a grunting sound. When I first heard this, I panicked and thought something was wrong with his breathing. However, there is no noise at any other time, he is breathing normally otherwise. He’s eating/drinking fine and no other changes in behaviour.
I had him in the lounge the other day and was listening out for these sounds, but nothing whatsoever. It’s just in the kitchen, when he sees me or knows food is coming.
It just seems really odd that he has never done this in 3 years and now has taken to doing it everyday. I read somewhere that it can be common in un-neutered rabbits, but he lost his manhood before we even got him!
Any thoughts. Should I be worried?
