3 weeks ago I got 2 cross breed rabbits, they are both males and are just over 12 weeks old. Was looking for any tips on rabbit housing and treats etc as these are my first rabbits. They have settled in well. They are really good together most of the time, one humps the other quite a bit but he just seems to let him until he is done and they get along fine afterwards. Is it okay for him to let him do it? Any help would be great thank you.

The information on this website is very helpful, and I highly suggest taking an hour to sit down and read on bonding, diet, etc..

I would recommend separating them if they are not neutered. The behavior can escalate quickly into fighting out of nowhere as they become more territorial!

Hi! Are they brothers? I agree, they must be separated until after they are neutered. You can still let them visibly see each other though – ie. two cages separated by at least a few inches can be kept in the same room.

They aren’t brothers, they came from the same place but they said they weren’t brothers. They have been alright so far, should I separate them just now or wait and see if they get bad? Thanks for replying

                  Welcome to Binky Bunny!

You should go ahead and separate them now. If you wait until they get bad, you could have to deal with serious injuries. Plus, rabbits that fight can hold grudges and may never want to bond. Get them neutered, then about a month after their surgeries, you can start the bonding process. They have been okay together so far due to being very young, but now at the age of 12 weeks, you will start dealing with hormones and aggression. Don’t even let them out for exercise together now. There will be plenty of time for them to be together once they are neutered and permanently bonded.

                  Two good articles on bonding:

                    Welcome!

Please separate them until they are both neutered This will prevent any injuries to your precious fluffs! Preventing any fighting is a crucial part of bonding, as you don’t want your bunnies to start recognizing that other bun= trouble!
