Well…I have come to a horrible conclussion about my rabbits…

I can no longer keep them…

I dont know how to find them new homes that will care for them as i have? There indoor bunny’s who romp about and eat yogies all day…I dont want to see them end up in a cage and never get looked at again…

Can anyone help me? Or know of anywhere to post them so they can find a forever home and live like they do now?

Do you have any shelters around your city?

I would advise not to feed your rabbits yogurt It isn’t good for their stomachs.

Yogie treats? Really? They love the little Yogie drops?

Yes however all of them are either full, dont take rabbits, or have an extreamly high euthinasia rate and I dont want that!

Hi Kush, I’m really sorry you’re facing this decision. Some chapters of the House Rabbit Society have advice on rehoming and/or help in keeping them. Try contacting someone at your local branch.

How many rabbits do you have?

I seem to recall recently, a member adopted a rabbit off craigslist from somebody who needed to rehome their bunny. The ad was very well typed out, outlining the bunny’s story…it discussed how the bunny was taken care of, and the expectations of the same. I think the previous owner had specified that she wanted the bunny to go to an owner who was very familiar with rabbits.

If you choose to list on Craigslist, you could do something similar – make it very clear that the rabbits are dear to you, and take care to interview the potential adopters. Don’t just see that they have a cage, food water, etc…make sure they are used to taking care of rabbits up to the standard you expect (not just a promise to do so).  I suspect some people may be put off by you wanting to thoroughly investigate their rabbit-keeping standards, but somebody who truly understands your situation and is willing to love your bunnies as much as you do should not mind in the least and should have nothing to hide.

I’m sorry that you are in such a situation, and hope that things can work out for the best.

I’m very sorry you are having to contemplate rehoming your buns. I have been on the other end of the spectrum and adopted a pair of guinea pigs from a lady who had been unemployed for several months and simply could not afford to keep them in the way they deserved. I was able to help her and they lived with me until they died of older age.

Just be vigilant in who you let adopt them and listen to your gut even if they seem to be saying what you want to hear.

My family wanted me to trade the rabbits in for a dog…

                            Enough said there sadly.
