So I have been have a situation. I have a dog, she is a major hunter and would probably eat my bunnies if she got the chance. However, she is very well behaved and when I had the “gate” up when the bunnies were in the playroom she never tried to knock it and stayed away from it most of the time. There was ONE time that she did try to run through the door to the kitchen but we caught her. My bunnies were only in the playroom for 7 days for bonding. They are now bonded and in my room/bunny room. They have free roam of my room during the day but my room is a little small and I would like it if they could have more space to run around without me worrying the dog will try and get them. I do let them outside when weather permits. It’s been too hot the past couple days so I can’t. I want to know if you guys think it will be a good idea to take my two free pens and during the day when no one is home have the bunnies in the playroom in the two pens put together? The only thing is I would need to buy a gate or ANOTHER x-pen to keep the dog from the play room. I can’t really rabbit proof that room too well because there is too much stuff..too many cords…too many everything! I would LOVE for them to have free roam of that room because it’s big but I can’t. They will have plenty of room in the two x-pens though. Actually, now that I think about it…I might be able to rabbit proof that room I just need to have a better look around.
Anyways, do you think I should do this? I’ve spent so much money these past couple of months I am not sure I can afford to get another x-pen right now, but if I can figure out how to rabbit proof that room I won’t need to.
Anyone else have dogs and rabbits? What do you do to protect your bunnies from your bunnies? (if you have to.)
My cats don’t care about the bunnies.
I don’t like having them cooped up in the bedroom and this way they can be out with me while I do homework. =)
