Neautering rabbits

We have two 9 week old Netherland dwarf that hate being picked up, it’s getting close to the time when there balls are going to drop and they will need to be neutered, we aren’t sure how to get them positioned so we can look or if there are any other ways we can tell, any help would be greatly apprectiated

Ball dropping can happen in a wide window. Wick’s didn’t drop until 8mo. Also, rabbits can withdraw their balls too. You can usually just tell from watching their behind as they hop away, as they’re quite large. If you do pick them up, you’ll be able to feel them. I knew Wick’s dropped within the hour because of how frequently I pick him up and at the instant I knew something was there that wasn’t before.

You can also arrange a vet visit for an assessment of readiness in the future. They’re still pretty young, so no need to rush, although I know housing rabbits separately due to no neutering may be a hassle.

In a couple of weeks, you can also try holding a veggie or treat over their heads to make them stand up. You might get a look at their testicles that way. But it could be a while before they drop.

Even if you don’t see testicles, you should separate the bunnies by 12 weeks to make sure no fighting occurs.

I have a super fluffy bunny and it was difficult to tell between all that fur. I just would stick my hand under his bum side while I was petting him to see if I felt anything.
