Okay… so I’m sitting here reading thru the latest posts during a thunderstorm.  I turned around the check on Bumpy, to see if he reacted to thunder.  He was laying in his usual spot, partly on his side, back feet nearly fully extended, but curled up towards his head, which was also curled and resting on his cheek.  His eyes were nearly closed.  He resembled a cat taking a nap… I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD!  So I’m like…

        “Bumpy?…  Bumpy?…. BUMPY!?!”

        No movement.

-reached between the cage bars and rubs his forehead-

        No movement.

“HONEY SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH BUMPY!!!”

        “He’s probably just sleeping.”

“But he isnt moving when I pet his head!!!”

        -starting to panic-

-takes forefinger and pokes him in the head-

“You’re just freaking out because you’ve been reading that forum.”

        -pokes him again-

And then he opens his eyes and sits up, moves just out of reach of my finger, and begins grooming himself….

When Bindi is sleeping super flopped out, it’s insanely cute but I always have to sneak over and make sure he’s breathing!

For the first like 3 weeks that I had my little girl I woke her up every time she tried to flop and take a nap because I was irrationally terrified that she had croaked on me. She started sleeping under the couch to get me to leave her alone pretty fast… :/

lol bpash, that’s exactly where I was, the 3 week mark. Now that he’s so ecstatic in his new home, I hope my paranoia will ease up a bit.

I understand… she was soooo tiny and fragile-looking when I got her and she had just gotten comfortable enough to start flopping anyway… it was so stressful omg. Is this what parents feel like the first time their child sleeps through the night?

Haha Bpash, I suppose they do feel that way!

And is it normal for rabbits to sleep super flopped with their mouths slightly open so you can see their tongue and teeth? Because that’s what muffin did and I video taped it! XD So cute, he only had a 5min nap though because I kept making sure he was alive.

I don’t have kids, so I really can’t answer that. I’ve always had various types of animals and considered them all my babies. Yet, I’ve always called myself a dog person. Love my dogs! However, since Bumpy has come into our lives… well.. I really can’t remember being so engrossed in any of my other babies as much as I am with him!
