name ideas?!

hi guys! after much consideration i have decided to get my male 5 month old lop nutmeg a girlfriend! he really is so affectionate and he deserves someone to cuddle with and play with while i’m at school during the day. i have ruled out adopting, even though it’s something i really do believe under certain circumstances people should do, only because nutmeg is so young and all of the shelter rabbits are over  a year old. i have contacted a breeder and am getting an all black female! i’ve always wanted an all black lop, they’re gorgeous. the litter she’s from is only a few weeks old so i still have a few more weeks until i can go pick her up, so i was thinking of names? some i already have thought of:

Noelle (love that name, nutmeg was my christmas bun so his color and the time i got him fit)

Poppy (just think its cute and sounds energetic like a bun!)

and my favorite: Boo! because she’ll be all black i just think it would be adorable. any ideas from you guys? i’d love to hear some names other people come up with! thanks

Are you going to take Nutmeg on dates at the breeder?

A couple things I’m sure you’ve thought of but I think important to note, you have to keep her in a separate pen with separate play time until about a month after she’s spayed. That means about 4 months of keeping them separate. You’ll also have to pay to get her spayed, which can be a large chunk. Territory poop wars are pretty much guaranteed if they are in the same room.

On the other hand, getting a rabbit from a rescue, she’ll already be spayed, and you can bond them right away, and possibly even let Nutmeg pick his mate, which coming from someone working on bonding, would be WORLDS less stressful. Age isn’t a factor in bunny relationships at all, and if you think about it, there’s still going to be a 6 month age gap either way.

There’s no reason why an older bun can’t be paired with a younger one! My paired buns were more than a year apart in age as well, and they were great together. And besides, like Sam and Lady’s Human mentioned, Nutmeg will need to be fixed (and the girl bun spayed) before the two can be bonded anyways (or else all they’ll want to do is fight and/or make babies), so by the time Nutmeg has a friend he’ll be a little older anyways.

That being said, I think Poppy is a great name for a girl bun, and “Nutmeg and Poppy” sounds like a great pair .

Oh, I just now saw your thread where you said Nutmeg had just been neutered, sorry about that!  Looks like you’re on the right track .
