So I was painting my nails, and max was curious and ended up hopping on my foot and got some of my nail polish stuck to the bottom of his foot?! I tried to get him to stay so I could take it off. It he’d keep hopping away, it is now dried to the bottom of his foot, I’m just wondering what I should do? I’m scared it’s toxic if he’d try to clean it off, it’s red revlon nail polish. One friend said he probably wouldn’t notice and to just wait until the fur from the bottom of his foot sheds away. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? All is very appreciated, thank you!

I think you could just leave it. Dog breeders often mark puppies with dabs of digfferently colored nail polish, so I think it’s rather harmless even if ingested. Imo it would be far worse to try and use nail polish remover to get it off. He’ll probably wear it off pretty soon during playtime.

If he’s very fluffy and very calm (and the polish patch is big) you could try to trim it off… but it’s not a good idea to reduce the fluff under a bun’s foot and I think it’s better to wait. It’s molting period so he’ll probably shed the dirty hair pretty quickly

I dont think you need to worry, if it’s not a huge lot. It will come off eventually. Once its dry, if someone can help you hold him in their lap, you mighy be able to cut off some of the hair that has nail polish on it with a pair of small scissors.

I would trim it off. You don’t know what is in the type of nail polish. Some are made with different things. But it most likely will be fine if you decide to leave it.

Also ( I forgot to add ) you don’t want him/her to eat it, I know when my bunnies get something stuck to their fur I have to trim it off because they try to eat it.

I agree with Bam that prob best just to leave it to come off on it’s own. If it’s just on the fur it won’t harm once it’s dried.
