You may not end up having to clip the nails all that often. When I worked for a vet and people brought their buns in for nail clips I actually told them I preferred to do it alone. I’d sit in a chair with the bun just sitting in my lap and trim them. If you get any animal frustrated by flipping them on their back you’ll never get the nails done or injure his back if he kicks hard.
So I would recommend that doing it alone just requires almost no restraint and just barely lifting the foot. Like, don’t try to straighten the back leg or anything like that.. You might be doing a few contortions, but he will be happier, and that’s what matters, right? Ha ha
Make sure you have enough nail to clip and you should be ok but don’t panic if you cut a nail short, just hold a paper towel on the foot for awhile if the bunny will let you, until the bleeding stops or you may just have to put him back in his cage for a bit. It’s much easier in summer if you have an outside area you don’t have to worry about them tracking blood all over. At the vets they can stop the bleeding, and I suppose you can buy something to have on hand. One vet told me if he cut his own dog’s nails too short he just turned them loose outside and let them run around til they stop bleeding. Works for me 🙂
