Hi Guys, its Olly Rabbit here, I am going to the Vets soon to have my claws cut, but I don’t like going in my box, I turn into a wild boy and hit and kick my box and do a body slam on it, like wrestlers do, WWF Hulk Hogan time

Should my Mummy use reverse Psychology and say. “No my Olly is not going in the box, no he’s not going to the vets today.”???

If your mom deviates from your usual “going to the vet” routine, that could help you calm down, since you won’t know “what’s coming”. There may also be value in her doing the same way, but being forceful about it so you understand when this routine happens, you need to be compliant. It’s like with Wick. He doesn’t like nail clipping, but if he puts up a fight, I definitely make sure I get it done, or else he learns that he just needs to keep fighting and I’ll stop.

I agree with Wick – I’ve heard this from other people as well – that if you don’t relent, it helps them accept whatever you’re doing. With things like nail clipping, having them get used to being picked up, etc., I’ve found persistence and consistency without letting them have their way (i.e., letting them jump away) works really well over time.

How does he react when you try to cut his nails yourself?
