Adding to the two topics on parents loving buns, I think that my parents love my buns (but won’t admit it). I don’t live with them, but they were pretty surprised/disappointed when I got Cheddy. They both think that pets are too much work and make too much of a mess.
But then they met Cheddy and I think that they started to like him (because he is awesome). So then I got Poopy and they were like okay, a friend for Cheddar. Then I got Meatball and they were just like what are you doing? Then I got Noodle lol. It’s so funny to see their reactions.
Anyways, they met Noodle and they both said that she is really cute and that she reminds them of a baby Cheddar.
But I know at least my mom loves them because she buys them veggies at the farmer’s market EVERY Saturday. I never buy veggies because she always gets them for the buns.
One time when I only had Poopy and Cheddy, she called me in the morning and woke me up to ask what kind of veggies they would like. That’s when I knew that she really loves them. I couldn’t stop laughing after that call.
My mom keeps asking about why I keep getting bunnies and says that I should just pop out a baby instead since I have so much “free time” to take care of them.
Bonus pics:
One of my fav pics. Meatball and Cheddar knocked out.
Poopy on her couch.
Noodle and her white chinny chin chin.
Aww, so sweet!
I feel lucky that my parents love the buns, but I’m jealous that yours live close enough to buy them veggies weekly. Haha
Of course
it is a denial love
My dad is very open about his feelings for Chacha. He baby talks to her, laughs at her, talks to her.. he even came home with a bag of cilantro and romaine. We do weekly runs to the Asian store and when they are out of dandelions, he says “Koucha is going to get mad..”
Cute pics! I wish my Chacha would sleep in a bed
She likes the carpet and couch justttt fine!
I wish my family was more excited about my bun
Even my boyfriend is indifferent.
Aw, sounds like she loves them if she buys them veggies every week! My family has never met my buns, they live too far away, but my grandmother likes to hear my bird sing over the phone. They know I don’t want kids, so the animals are their grandchildren and all of one they are ever gonna get!

We do weekly runs to the Asian store and when they are out of dandelions, he says “Koucha is going to get mad..”So hilarious!!! My bf doesn’t like to buy dandelion greens or kale for the bears since they are more expensive, and I always say to him, “Cheddy wants it. He will be mad.”
My dad doesn’t like rabbits because he views them as destructive, but my mom has her own and she is trying to be a better bunny owner. I am most surprised by how my boyfriend is towards rabbits. While I don’t think he would ever personally seek one out (or at least he wouldn’t have before me), he finds them fascinating. He will crouch down to their level and he isn’t afraid to get bit like I am! The only thing he doesn’t like is that they lay in their litterboxes. He is a germiphobe, and it grosses him out.
Your boyfriend would love my buns then, Kyt. My two don’t lay in their boxes, they insist it stays really clean or they won’t touch it, they won’t even take hay in the box cause if their food gets near their mess they refuse to touch it. ![]()
My mom is constantly buying “naners” for the rabbits. I think it is more so she has an excuse to buy something at the pet store, but she does love them on some level.
My husband loves the rabbits. It was actually his idea to get one. Then we ended up with two. I’m glad now that we ended up with two because I think Leopold would be lonely without Wooly there.
Cheddar, the dandelions are a big pricey. For a bunch it is 1.50 here. Perhaps in the summer, it will be cheaper. If only i still lived in a house. My dad didn’t treat the lawn, so I don’t think he would have minded if I asked him to pull some dandelions out for Chacha
Oh well, I’m okay with buying dandelions
My boyfriend was fine with me getting Chacha. In fact, I think it helped both him and I. He goes to college in Oregon, and Chacha became the one that keeps me busy. Chacha has her ‘Mister’ wrapped around her finger
He doesn’t come home much, but when he does, Chacha still remembers him. She automatically gives him kisses, and she doesn’t mind getting pets (for me, it has to be on her own terms.. wth!) from him at anytime! UGH, maybe she is tired of seeing mommy everyday ![]()
My family has never met my bunny, they just ask questions about him and are surprised he is litter box trained and is allowed to run around the apartment. My boyfriend doesn’t really pay much attention to him unless Goblin gets pushy or nippy with him, then he gives him fruit treats and makes a run for safety. My boyfriend’s first question after slowly opening a door to the living room and peeking into the room is, “Is satan bunny out???” lol.
my parents were a little reluctant when I first got the buns, but they didn’t care much since I wasn’t living with them. Then I moved back home for two months, and they fell in love with the bunnies! I found my dad sitting on the floor baby-talking them, observing them, saying things like “Rorshar (he can’t pronounce Rorschach HAHA) likes to hide under the cabinet”. I moved out again, but my parents always ask how the bunnies are doing and come over to visit sometimes. My boyfriend also fell for the bunny charm… the other day he had someone over for an interview, and when he mentioned there were two bunnies the interviewer asked “where’s the other one?” my boyfriend responded, “she’s behind the curtain..she’s shy.” then he realized he was talking about Nikka like she’s a human =P
LOL angie, I can imagine my parents not being able to pronounce “Rorschach” either. My mom has enough trouble saying “Remi”…he’s pretty much either “Lemmy” or “Nemmy” now XD.
My parents are completely sold on bunnies too…my mom is the one who does all the work for Remi on a daily basis and teaches him tricks…she also occasionally asks how Peppy (and Milo, before) are doing. My dad still calls Remi “that rabbit”, but every once in a while we’ll catch him lying on the floor spending time with “that rabbit” after dinner, haha.
Angie, how do you say Rorschach? XD Hahahaha
I think my mom would have loved Chacha bun.
I know she is watching over us and happy that Chacha has given me so much happiness.
My grandma loves cats and bunnies. She had a bunny that was like a dog when she grew up.
Awhhh
My grandma claims she’s not an animal person but she clips out little articles for me whenever she sees something on horses or rabbits, always asks about them, and brings over cardboard and carrots saying they’re getting too old but they’re always fresh. My ex boyfriend used to always act like he was interested in the rabbits but looking back I am pretty sure it was an act. My mom and sister absolutely adore the bunnies though
My sister likes to study with a rabbit next to her and she’s always like “bring me the little one!” or “bring me the big white one!” lol
Btw those pictures are sooooo cute

LOL!! that’s so adorable. Oh and Rorschach is pronounced roar-shack ![]()
My parents love the bunnies. I only see them a couple times a year, but when I visit I take the buns. My dad is into photography so he spends hours on the floor with them tying to get pictures. He didn’t even mind when Hannah grabbed his brand new expensive flash and started pushing it around. haha My mom calls them the grandbunnies. My family has always been animal lovers though. I had gerbils as a kid and my parents liked them too (though my mom couldn’t stand how their little toenails felt, so she only liked them from a distance … lol)
I am in the same boat as you Cheddar33…I’m obsessed with lops and adore yours! haha AND my parents are the same. They (especially my Mom) have never understood wanting a pet bc they think they’re too much work, messy, etc… and they experienced it first hand (the messiness) when my husband and I moved in with them for a few months after selling our house and waiting for the new one to be built. I could tell when we moved out that they were going to miss seeing their furry faces every day and watching them run wild at night time.. My Dad will always ask about them, he’s a bunny lover at heart, but my Mom is less mushy about it. But when my Mom visited them here in our new house for the first time I could tell she was eager to see them, and wanted to know they remembered her/recognized her voice. It was so sweet to see. I just can’t let her know I know she loves them
My older brother has a dog, been married for 6 years, I have two bunnies, married just over 2 years…and my parents definitely would like to have some grandchildren instead of just grandpuppy and grandbunnies…and yes that’s what they call them. haha Oh the other thing that makes me smile is when someone asks about the bunnies and I overhear my Mom talking to them so proudly about them…and I know she talks about them to her friends..
I’m jealous yours live close enough to spoil them with veggies, how nice!!
Yeah, I live about 15 minutes away from my parents, so she’s always dropping off veggies and stuff. It’s funny, she won’t really touch them because they are “dirty”, but she will look at them a lot.
My mom is my bunny sitter when I’m away on vacation and she gladly does it. She gets concerned when I say just come over like once every two days. It’s like she thinks that they will starve and she should come over every day.
She goes to the same farmers market every Saturday, and the person who sells carrots knows that no one wants the carrot tops, so they save it for my mom and gives it to her for free because they know that they are for bunnies. I don’t give them too much of it, but free veggies!!!
On another note about the dandelion and it being expensive, Cheddy has super expensive taste. He will NOT eat the white part of bok choy. He just eats up until the green leaf ends and leaves the white part. He eats the curly part of the kale, but leaves the stems. He eats cilantro leaves, but not the stems. He will NOT each romaine at all. He’s so picky. Bad Cheddy.
