I just brought home my new rabbit, Sheldon! I picked him up from my cousins only shortlty ago. I feel in love instantly! He let me pat his head, almost falling asleep. He’s running around the laundry/kitchen, thumping his foot ocassioanl, is he just scared/nervous? My dog was absolutely fine with him! Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon!

Congrats! How old is Sheldon? He is probably just ticked that he was plucked from his home and his thumping is his way of saying “Hey – where did my house go?” Give him time, keep him in a small space he can get used to and feel secure in and I’m sure he’ll be happy in no time!

We think that he is around 4 months or so. I’m also so paranoid, because he isn’t eating, but I know it’s because he just got here! Haha, I need to stress a little less I think!

Will he take greens or fruit? Does he have a favorite treat?

Sheldon had previously in love with my cousins cat…. now it’s my dog. He follows him and runs circles around his legs! Apart from that he’s been running around the whole house. He’s very inquisitive and isn’t afraid of much it seems. I had to put him block him off in a another room, just wanted to give my dog a brake. My dog was even getting a bit frisky!

Would neutering help the circling subside?

Yes, neutering will help with that behavior. If he’s 4 months, he’s at prime hormone age.

Why did your cousin give him up?

They never really planned on having a rabbit, so that when I heard I was looking for one they said they’d give him to me. She said that she couldn’t spend much time with it.

I got my first flop and binky today!! So happy

He’s so pretty! And I love the name Shelton! Big Bang theory fan by any chance? I hope he doesn’t have the same attitude problems as the real Shelton or your in for a ride
Neutering will help with the circling and any marking that comes with it!
In the meantime congratulations and good luck getting to know your bunny!

Yeah Big Bang theory haha. The only thing is, is that I’m scared his personality will change from the neuter. He loves his pats and licks me all the time. I don’t want that to stop :/

If it helps I actually found neutering my male actually made him more friendly! Before he would be distracted by hormones and now he’s so much calmer and ever let’s me hold him (never happened before) I also bonded him with this litter mate and now he’s happier than ever and our owner pet bond is stronger because he’s much more relaxed

Sheldons personality is unlikely to change as long as he gets lots of attention and things to do

                                      Thanks for the reassurance
