So I introduced myself a while ago. I have a cat and 2 guinea pigs and in November added a mini lop to my family. She has a large cage 28” x 70” and 4 days a week she spends anywhere from 4-15 hours out of her cage. She doesn’t yet free time my apartment but gets 2 rooms to romp in as desired.
Now let me say this, this curious little monster is the most destructive and troublemaking of all my pets. I’m a nurse and work nights so for 3 nights a week she only gets 2 hours of floor time as I’m sleeping all day. She has toys galore and all the hay she could ever want but there isn’t much I can do as I gotta sleep those days, worse if it’s 3 nights in a row. I went to work for 2/3 last night and my boyfriend was home so I said I’m going to leave her out a while more just feed her and close the cage later. I have a c&c cage with 2 “door” panels so I can open the cage for easy roaming. Well last night my boyfriend didn’t close it correctly. He has been home sick with the flu and naturally passed it to me so I got home this morning put on some Vick’s vaporrub and was trying to sleep when I hear her break out. No big deal a treat and a rub and we are back in and cage closed correctly. So this afternoon she decides to do it again. Busting off the binder clips and digging frantically behind a chair in an off limits room. ?
Bella is the most energetic and curious of the troublemakers I have and petrifys my cat who was in a chair watching her if in horror today .
So sleep lost and cage reinforced…..off to get ready for work while wishing I could call out and take care of myself instead of staying awake all night to care for others.
Just thought I’d share and ask for similar experiences/stories.

    What a sassy lady!

Once a bun gets an idea in their head, it can be hard to get it out of there! I use this type of clip on my cube cage:

Heavy ceramic tiles also work great for trouble some spots in the carpet. And my destructo-buns really like card board cat scratchers for destroying.

Is she spayed? Females will often get obsessed with digging, but spaying can help.
