Last night DH and I went to bed and completely forgot to close up the rabbit cage. Not sure what we were thinking (obviously we weren’t thinking at all) but somehow he woke up at 2am and thought to go downstairs to check. The buns were in the cage, sleeping away, but he checked around for any destruction in the living room. We had left the two remotes on the couch and somebunny (I’m gonna say Otto) jumped up and nibbled every single button on the DVD player remote
Why couldn’t he go for the cable remote? At least that’s free to replace. Now I have to call Panasonic and see if they’ll send us a new one.
The irony is that we have a tray on the coffee table where the remotes go, but we left them out on the couch. If we had only put them away the bunnies would’ve had to find something else to play with.
We’re still hotly debating whether Hannah got behind the tv or not. It seems like she moved some barriers away to get at the bookshelf (which she enjoys doing) but it also looks like she might have squeezed over to the tv (right next to the bookshelf). We watched tv this morning and all electronics are in working order, so I’m hoping she didn’t chew anything.
How many remotes have your bunnies eaten?
lol. all the buttons huh? they really are bunny jujubes
i’ve lost 2 1/2 buttons to the wabbit. and cords to a fan, the vacuum, and a phone charger. plus many random holes in purses and tote bags. and clothes.
my gf’s parrot likes to steal her computer keys. most of her function keys have been re-purposed to replace the important casualties.
thank God Lolli doesn’t mess with remotes. And it’s just because she doesn’t jump on the couch. LOL
Eddie ate all the buttons off 2 cable remotes. One I took in to the local office to have replaced and the girl was confused and like “what happened?” Just more curious than anything since almost all the buttons were missing. Told her it my rabbit and she shrieks “A rabbit did THIS?” Yep. Sure did. LOL I tried very hard to keep the new remote out of his reach but would forget as well or leave for 2 seconds to pee and come back to him on the couch, eating the buttons off yet again. I ended up canceling cable for about a year and when I got it again August, I made damn sure that remote was on the coffee table at all times when I was left the couch.
My tv remote and I think my DVD player remote all have a couple of buttons missing on each. Thankfully it hasn’t caused them to quit working. LOL
Eddie and Lolli got behind my tv one day cause I was stupid and didn’t place the pen to block them. All of sudden my internet and TV both go out. Then I realized they were behind there and about had heart failure. Not over the rabbits, mind you. lol I thought they chewed through some major cord back there. So I’m telling them to come out and scolding them. They come out just fine even though Eddie was probably grumpy about it. Taking away his fun again. And thank God he had just hit the power strip on/off button. Whew! LOL
Dutchess chewed our internet cord, and the internet guy couldn’t figure it out for a long while working on the computer until we mentioned we had a bunny. Over he went to check the cord . . . . *drumroll* bunny chewed it! I was so proud ^__^
She’s chewed on my mom’s iron cord, and took a chunk out of my mom’s coat (good thing it was her old one).
Magazines, folders, the carpet (not swallowed, thank goodness), boxes, video tape cases (the old vhs kind), books, etc.
She loves to nibble on things that are left on the floor, so as I keep telling everybody, don’t put anything on the floor or on the couch that you don’t want bite marks on. Little diva will find them. Wherever they are. *dun da dun!*
Frankie has never bitten the buttons of the remote. Our bird has, though. I hate that little wenchy cockatiel.
Frankie has done his share of damage though. He has an especially strong taste for paper-based products. The older the better. He completely tore and ate the spines off of some old dictionaries and books and has little by little eaten the entire cover from one of my vintage Queen records. Ugh. I keep him out of there too, but he has snacked on so many vinyl covers somehow anyway. And of course the ones I keep out of storage are the ones I really like >_<
a vintage queen album?!? nooooooooooo!!! i love queen. guess so does frankie.

Ditto!
Only lost one button – but associated cords lost during behind-the-TV break ins are too numerous to mention. I do bunny proof, really. They just spend months plotting how to get behind there and execute their plans at really inconvenient moments “She’s gone in the bath! Quick, pole vault over the louvre doors fixed to the TV stand!”.
My 3 have not been at all interested in the remotes…yet
Luckily, I don’t own a TV so Peppy hasn’t had a chance to get her little bun teeth on a remote….yet. however, my white laptop cable has 6 big black electrical tape booboos!
Pacey and Walter don’t mess with remotes or cords.
But they tag team my book shelf. I have had to put all of my favorite books way up on the top shelves and block off the bottom portion.
Marshmallow was my button chewer I went through 5 xbox remotes and 3 tv remotes. I hid them and that smart butt would find them eventually and run off with them.
I was so sure Otto was the guilty one because he’s the only bun who goes straight for the remotes when he jumps up on the couch. So, to test it we put the remote down on the floor to see which bunny went for it. They were both there in a second eating more buttons! We were so sure that Hannah was innocent, but I guess not 😛
Chacha loves Comcast Remotes. I flip them over so the buttons are on the bottom ![]()
Chacha loves Comcast Remotes.
Comcast remotes must be extra yummy. The 2 cable remotes Eddie ate the buttons off of were comcast remotes. LOL

I gave up and the bottom shelf is not the litter box/ hay nomming area ![]()
We have a comcast remote too and it was the only one with any chew marks (missing only one button) but it was up on the arm of the sofa and nobunny saw it there. Should’ve left that one out! We had to order a $25 DVD remote from Panasonic (which actually isn’t that bad of a price), but it’s back ordered until next month. Lots of other bunnies chewing up remotes out there?
rofl oh yes the good ol remote buttons.
I have mine wrapped n taped in plastic. Hench I still have all the buttons on the 2 remotes I have. Yep Cotton did enjoy a bunch of buttons b4 I got this idea.
Rascals.
