My bunny lost her nail

She lost it a couple days ago, happened by accident when the dog got in the room and chased her around till I came and found her 5 mins later hiding in the corner of the room, thank god she was alright other than losing her nail. I’m wondering if anyone else’s bunny has happened to them and what did u do in this situation? My bunny has lost her front left thumb nail before and we took her to the vet and we had to pay almost $500 for the vet to cut the bone down and
Stitch it up or else he said it could get infected and she could die so I didn’t want to take that chance. I’m going to take her to the vet again cause this time
She lost her right pinky nail and I’m afraid he is going to say the same thing and will cost me another $500 I don’t mind paying it but it hurts. Does anyone think if I leave it and keep cleaning the wound will it heal fine without the whole vet procedure? Has anyone else been to the vet in this situation!? Please let me know thanks !

Are you able to look at it good? Did the entire nail rip out cleanly or is there still a stub of nail? Depending on how good it looks, you can clean it up and watch for signs of infection. Wooly ripped out a nail once and we just cleaned it up. He was fine, but there was also a little stub of nail there so his nail eventually grew back.

Hi there. My bun has lost her nail before (Scared me to death) and we just cleaned it up and watched it, making sure everything was clean. She had a vet appointment about a week later for something else and when the vet techs (yes it took 2 to hold her and clip them) saw it they really didn’t even mention it. But there was a tiny stub of nail left. If there is still a nail stub I *Personally* would just keep a close eye on it and keep it clean. If there is nothing there I might consider taking a vet trip.

But I would definitely secure the room better. I understand it can be difficult (I currently have 2 adult dogs and we just rescued 2 puppies and my brother also has his dog staying here so 5 dogs) but a door that can be latched completely shut, an eye hook lock thing and a baby gate are all good measures to make sure there is 0 chance of any of the pets getting in there if you don’t want them too.
