I have in 8 week old Holland lop I got him a week ago and he has fleas. I have no idea how he got them.

I know there is a lot of flea medicines out there for rabbits. I was wondering which flea medicine you guys think is the best and if it is safe for young bunnies.

Revolution (kitten formula) is probably the most often used brand for rabbits with fleas, but I don’t know if any of the medications would be safe for a bunny who is only 8 weeks old. You will have to ask your vet about that, and get the appropriate medication from him or her. NEVER use Frontline or any product that contains fipronil.  That can be fatal for rabbits.

Besides killing any fleas on a rabbit, you have to make sure you rid the house of fleas and their eggs.  So you need to keep vacuuming any rooms the rabbit is in, since the fleas are often hiding in carpets and upholstery too.

I agree that revolution is common and safe, usually. It wasn’t good with Magpie though, the spot it was applied on turned bright red and she wouldn’t stop scratching it, then it got soooooooooo dry. So now, I only apply it if she appears to have any pests, so her neck doesn’t get terribly irritated

Any animal can have a local reaction to a flea medication, but most don’t. I don’t recall my boys having a reaction. It’s definitely something to keep an eye out for though. I agree, Revolution would be your best bet. It can be applied to baby rabbits. Just make sure to get the dosage right.

Tobyluv already pointed out that fipronil-containing products are toxic to rabbits, but it never hurts to repeat the message.

We had a flea infestation a while back. I used Advantage II for cats for long term protection, and the Advantage spray for immediate relief. Got it from Chewy.com
                https://www.chewy.com/advantage-flea-treatment-spray-cats-8/dp/139688

I have to tell you, this spray works GREAT. Kills fleas instantly, and not just where the spray landed either. I monitored the rabbits closely after applying, and there were no ill effects, even on little Dawn. And the relief she got was obvious. Highly recommended.
