MY BUNNY ATE GUM???

HI! so i’m in a bit of a pickle. this morning when i woke up i found a chewed up gum pack on the floor. i have no idea where it came from, and after asking around, my niece said it was in her bag (that fredrick must’ve gotten into!).

she says she’s not sure if there was gum left in it, but if there was it wasn’t much.

so here’s my problem. fredrick loves to chew things he finds, much like most bunnies, so when i found it, i was concerned he ate it all. so i went and did some more researching about other people with gum-eating bunnies and most of it told me he’s going to be fine.

but i’m still worried. there are a few things concerning me. 1.) since i found out, i’ve been noticing his stomach gurgling a little bit. 2.) i’m pretty sure he poops every 5 minutes on a normal day [he seriously doesn’t stop] but he hasn’t in about an hour or two.

other than that, his behavior is normal. i gave him his vegetables and pellets just an hour ago. and he’s been eating, drinking, stretching out on the floor, playing with my cat, and tipping over his water bowl just like he does on any other day. I may just be paranoid and overthinking it, do you think he’ll be okay?

i’ve also noticed he was licking his butt a bit more than usual. and he got some weird substance on his nose from doing so.

anyways, i’m probably just worried for nothing, please send some feedback so i know what to do!

How is he doing today?

We’ve had this come up a few times here on BB, and to my recollection, they were all fine. Just keep a very close eye on poops and appetite for a couple of days and make sure he’s eating lots of hay.

I’ve seen bunnies eat worse things. My Bindi once ate a rubber band. Naughty little buggers, they sure like to make us worry.

hi! fredrick is doing fine. after bringing out his whole bag of hay and feeding him fresh greens, he eventually passed it all. in the form of some really big, some really small, and some even strung together! the next day he seemed to have passed it all through his system and now i’m gonna keep an extra eye out for gum laying around. he really scared me!! but i guess he just lives to scare me just about every day huh LOL

Glad to hear he’s fine too. They can have such delicate tummies but also incredibly tough at times. I mentioned the rubber band. He was fine. And more recently, Sterling ate a whole bunch of sparkly crayons. I freaked out. Kept a close eye on him. I’m not joking, the next day, he has sparkly poop…..He has a taste for crayons now, I have to check all the floor to make sure my daughter didn’t drop any or he will sniff them out and gobble them up.
