Grrr, I can’t believe it, 2 days before Christmas and I was mugged! I’m so angry, I lost all my cards and some cash and then in the half an hour it took me to report it, they used my visa! Of course I wont have to pay for that but still, it’s so frusterating.
Some people have no Christmas spirit!
Oh No! Are you okay?
Omg, are you ok???
Ok so seriosuly I would have so messed that person up!!?!?!? Did they have a gun?? Like IDK what I would have done but MAN!!!! I would so jack someone up if they messed with me!!!!!!!! what HAPPENEd>!>!>!>!
Cassi ! ![]()
I am so sorry!
This week does bring out the muggers, and with people shopping so much and carrying large wads of cash and cards, or bundles, it’s easy pickings for them. Did they grab and run? I really hope you’re OK.
Lintini, not a good idea to fight someone who came prepared to steal. Your health and life is not worth a few bucks and credit cards. One suggestion I heard years ago, however, is that if someone is approaching you and you suspect you are their target, start making noise and acting crazy. If you can draw attention to yourself, or look unpredictable, it might scare them off. (assuming you notice them before they notice you, which Cassi can tell you is usually not the case.)
Oh, no! What happened? How scary and infuriating this time of year. I hope that you’re okay! And I hope that mugger gets a big old lump of coal in his stocking!!
Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry. I cannot begin to imagine how scared you had to have been. Hugs and vibes to you.
Oh no!!! I hope you’re ok! I can’t imagine how scary that would be! (((Hugs!)))
Cassie! You sound so calm about it! are you ok?! I would be so freaked out, what happened?
I was sort of mugged once too (forced away from a ticket machine that I had put 20 dollars into). Many people say that they’d do this or that if it happens but when it happens, it is literally the shock of it actually happens that has people often flustered over it. The disbelief of it all usually makes the victim more compliant to the point that they don’t really understand what happened until it is over. That’s why self defence training is important – not so that you can drop the guy with a pinky but so that you have drilled what to do in a situation so that when it happens, it is almost reflexive – if it is nothing more than to shout FIRE! as you run away.
Mine was almost funny as I went to report it to a couple of cops that were nearby but they didn’t want to intercede as they felt the guy was about to go off and they wanted to get him for something good. They then suggested I go back and get it so that if he did begin to bludgeon me to death, they could get him for something good.
This is awful! You poor thing! (((Hugs!)))
Oh Cassi! (((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) I’m hoping you weren’t hurt physically, as you were able to post this. People just blow my mind. As if it’s not bad enough that we’re not ALL having a hard time getting Christmas together in this economy…but instead of seeing our fellow man as someone paddling the same boat, these kinds of derelicts see it as it’s every rat for himself and take advantage. *fumes*
Did anybody here catch the news story about the priest in England who advocated shoplifting for the desperate? (Probably taken out of context, but still…odd coming from a man of the cloth.) This person must have taken him to heart.
Swift justice to the mugger. And a good swift kick in the rear too, or wherever it hurts worst.
I know
I’m just acting tough
*hugs Cassi*
Oh my, that does suck! Glad you’re ok, money and cards can be replaced, you can’t be!
Thanks guys, I felt so scared yesterday and really bummed out so I just hung out with friends and tried to calm down a bit.
It actually happened so fast that I’m not sure what happened.
It was a couple working as a team, the guy distracted me and the girl tried to snatch my bag, but I had reacted quite badly to the guy (he pinched my butt to distract me…and I hate that!) so I actually went to hit him with the bag.
Then the girl tipped her drink on me and I turned to see what was happening there because I didn’t know at the time that they were a team and the guy tried to take my bag, but it was one of the ones that wrap around your arm so it can’t be snatched, so he hit me and I gave him the bag. Meanwhile the girl pulled my hair so I pulled hers back lol cause I was seriously p* off that I’d been hit.
It happened sooo fast. All that was probably over in 30 seconds. I was trying to report it to the police but I honestly couldn’t remember the order of it until i’d calmed down.
So I had a grey eye yesterday, it’s ok now but a bit tender and a small bald patch on my head lol where the girl ripped some of my hair out. I replaced me licence yesterday and now I have to wait for my bank cards to be sent to me. I’m pretty sure that they only got $10 but I can’t remember how much was in there.
btw Lintini – Australia doesn’t have many guns so it’s incredibly rare for people here to be mugged with guns. I think I’d actually faint if someone tried to mug me with a gun!
(he pinched my butt to distract me…and I hate that!) so I actually went to hit him with the bag.
but it was one of the ones that wrap around your arm so it can’t be snatched
the girl pulled my hair so I pulled hers back
Sorry I just had to laugh at this, because if you look at it from a certain view it was a pretty sad attempt at mugging, you tried to hit the guy with your bag and it was attached to your arm, AND you pulled the girls hair! I’d say you put up a pretty good fight!
But I am so sorry that this happened to you, If that happened to me I probably would have done much of the same. Or I might have just run, I’ll never know until I get mugged, IF I get mugged, which I hope I don’t.
Thanks for checking in again Cassi. I can totally get your reaction when you first posted – Anger!! That this was a team really sucks. It shows it wasn’t just opportunitic and they set out to prey on people. Karma, Karma. Glad you’re ok and have good support around you. One thing is since it wasn’t exactly a swift attack, at least you can give a good description of them.
Yes, they took some things…highly annoying…don’t let them take away your enjoyment of this time of year though. Sending big hugs north to you!
OH nooo I am so sorry this happened to you Cassi. Also way to go you fought back. Good for you. I hope I would do the same. It all depends on the situation really. Glad they didnt’ use weapons and you were not seriously hurt.
I am not advising everyone to fight back just take it on situation by situation basis.
Hope you had a nice strong drink hanging out with friends. That is a shaky thing to go thru
Well thank god he just pinched your bum and no weapons involved! I am still really sorry that happened to you…and good for you for pulling her hair back! Sorry about your grey eye
Thank goodness for makeup! I’m with bunnytowne, hang out with friends and have a lovely drink.
bless your heart im so sorry u had to go thro this i cant imagine how scared n mad u must have been im so sorry i hope u get everything worked out!!
karma will get those rotten people back. lol you put up a good fight!I would be in shock but i bet after iit happened i would be running after them. Poor thing!!
Ehhh gross
YES may Karma pinch their butts!!
Cassie, have you gotten mugged before? It says “mugged again” in your title. I hope not. How are you feeling? That’s such a nasty thing to have happen.
Thanks guys for all your support. My last card I needed to replace arrived yesterday so I’m good with everything now. It was really only while I was so inconvenienced over the christmas period with no way of getting money, that I was really cross. On the up side, I spent a record low amount of money this year.
Petzy, I was mugged in India in August, and many times before hence the ‘again’ in the title. I have been called a professional mugging victim because I seem to be able to attract muggers where ever I go LOL!
On a side note, my good friend had the same thing happen to him on New Years, except the girl pinched his butt and the guy pickpocketed him. He said that he didn’t notice if the girl had a bald patch or not
hehehe
I wonder what attracts a mugger? Why do they pick you? Is mugging really common in India?
