  The Colorado HRS has a wonderful page about REWs. It’s a collection of stories from owners of REWs about how wonderful red-eyed bunnies are.   Mr. Bunny’s bunny-ego is very large now. He’s gotten on both Disapproving Rabbits and the CO-HRS website in just a few days.

  That’s cool – you’re published and Mr. Bunny is becoming famous! I enjoyed reading your story and the others. I wasn’t even aware that REWs were overlooked by many people until after I adopted mine. Where does this bias come from? Is it a religious thing (i.e. the “devil” has red eyes)? I’m not religious so I wouldn’t know. Is it an irrational fear that comes from watching horror movies? Again, I wouldn’t know since I don’t watch scary movies. I find REWs absolutely darling as I do all bunnies.

  I know that the same prejudices for REW rabbits exist for REW guinea pigs as well. Not sure why myself…I think too that some people associate this coloring with lab animals – not really sure why that would be a deterrent either. I know with dogs it’s the big black dogs that are overlooked for adoptions according to dog rescuers.

  I’m glad to hear that there is a page promoting how wonderful REWs are. I’ve thought about starting a REW Lover’s Fan page. It makes me sad that people overlook them and some people even thing they are “gross”. That makes me angry. They are beautiful. I will take some time later to read all the stories. Tell Mr. Bunny not to get too much of a big head with all his recent celebrity or Ms. Rabbit may not put up with it!
