First night back from her Op.  We kept her in the bedroom.  we turned the closet all nice and cozy for her.  it didn’t last long, she climbed up to my pillow and never moved.  we both fell asleep face to face.  next night she did the same thing but on the boyfriend’s side of the bed.  After these two days, she was ready for the living room, where she spends most of her time (we live in a bunny world!)

Eating/Pooping/Peeping have not been a concern.

Tomorrow will be two weeks since her op.  She looks great and seems to have recovered very well.  Until yesterday,  she wanted to be alone and found a brand new area to stretch out those adorable paws of hers.  In the hallway closet she has bunch of boxes to climb, hide, pop-in and out of. It seemed like she was playing hide and seek, pet me don’t pet me.  Love me, go away  but most concerning she seemed sad and hurt.  Oh! and a little hot.  not so much from the tip of ears but from her head.

I don’t know what I did differently, other than, I did a lot of cooking.  She doesn’t like the smells of sausage, onion, garlic and other strong cooking.

This morning, she was pretty loving.  She was sleepy, cozy and wanted lots of love.  which I didn’t want to leave but work is work!  I came home during lunch hour and she was sleeping on one of her favs places.  She felt hot and so I pulled out the frozen water bottle and gave her a bath (a damp sock to rub her with.)  She enjoys that petting time.  Now we are back from work and she is eating and being mellow.

Something doesn’t seem right – I know I get extra worried so this might just be one of those times that I need to step back and let her be.

        My concerns:

is she slightly mad a us for her op, if so, late reaction?  haha

is she sad, I don’t see her doing binkies.  but two days ago, she could hardly do a full flop. she is almost back to doing them at full cuteness.

is she bored, sad and lonely?

do I need to stop cooking … and cleaning? j/k about the cleaning part

        I don’t think I have a real concern… help!

No more cleaning! I wish! lol

Both my buns were super cuddly after their operation, then, as soon as they were able to get back up and play, they seemed a bit off. My younger boy definitely did the “pet me don’t pet me” mood, coming to me, bumping my hand like he wants petting, then running as soon as I tried. It was so cute but also agrevating! He luckily got right back to his normal playing, binkys, etc! My older girl definitely took longer to get back to normal. She did seem to have some mood swings, one moment begging for loves and cuddles, the next making her little piggy noises at us like she was upset. As my older one has had problems with her feet since she was just a baby, she never really did do full on binkies or flops. It did take her a couple weeks to do her little half-binkies and her fun runs and her giant stretches! She did seem back to “normal” at about the week 4 point

cooking – my rabbit hates when I cook any type of meat. especially beef and veal. My younger one has no problem with it, but, as soon as my older one smells any type of meat, bam, hidey-house! She actually got worse with it after being fixed! Its like she now has super-senses. Garlic, same thing, hates the smell of it, usually doesn’t hide though. Ive gotten to the point where, if I know I’m cooking, I let her free so she can go straight to her hidey house.

bored/sad/lonely/etc – Your bun likely isn’t upset at you for the operation. Buns do have some crazy hormones after their Operation. My older girl had some crazy mood swings! I learned with my girl that keeping routine is the one thing that seemed to kept her happy. Similar feeding times, cage times, out times, treat times, etc. As soon as there was a slight schedule change, she would try to eat through her cage, then, as soon as she came out, would go and hide as if mad. Didn’t want any pets or loves or anything. If you do believe your bun is bored, you could get some toys. All buns are a little different on their favorites so you may have to experiment. My boy loves anything cardboard. Tubes, rolls, anything he can sink his teeth into. My girl likes noises. Keys, crunchy snacks, bottles with little rocks inside, that stuff.

hot – I’m really unsure what the temperature change could be. My buns do seem a little warmer after a deep sleep but not very noticeable. Make sure you keep your house at a steady temperature if you can! It could just be all the sleeping she seems to be doing, but I would say keep an eye on her, and if it gets worse, then possibly see the vet. I use the frozen water bottle method myself for when my buns venture outside on a hot day and need some cooling off. I actually get both a large soda bottle(2 liter) and a regular sized water bottle (I only fill the water bottle about half way) and freeze both. I put a cloth over the big bottle. My little one loves to snuggle up to the big bottle for short bursts of time. My older one will cuddle the little bottle, but once the ice starts melting abit, she uses it as a throw toy! wooh! two in one! lol

I hope your bun levels out back to normal soon and that she gets to feeling better

the mox is doing so much better.  today she did a full on bunny flop. the ones that she was so out, I thought she was dead. Luckily, I’ve read about it sometime in the past and so I was prepare for it.

Her stretches are long and perfect.  she is jumping and running and being all adorable and stuff.

We live in alaska on the top floor, the rainy fall season is here so people below us must be turning up their heat a little more.  So, we got her couple of fans and placed them where she can go if needed.  I also, come home for lunch and do a sock bath.  She enjoys her frozen water bottle too!.

We are definitely going to focus on keeping her daily routine up to part.  M-F we are good on the feeding times but on weekends she def makes sure we are up on time!  hahaha – that’s another thing different about her.  In the past she’d jump on the bed around 3Am and 5AM but now she only does it once at 6 which that is the time we get up M-F

Games, she likes picking up things and throwing them.  so we have these old skate wheels and we stack them up to create a pyramid for her to destroy.

Smells and noises, I baby her way to much and I think I need to find a balance.  When we watch tv and has loud sounds she does the eyes and ears thing or hopes away scare.  so I play up and down with the volume.  Cooking – I’m going to send her to our bedroom, like we do when we vacuum and turn on the dishwasher; she has all she needs in our bedroom.

lonely, I would like to buy her a bunny or other cute friend.  but we live in a 1 bedroom apartment and I’m not sure it’s the best thing to do. we try to pay her as much attention as possible so she doesn’t feel sad or lonely.  I am worry about leaving her alone for a long periods of time so I am pretty stressed about our upcoming 7 vacation to mexico.  My boyfriends friend will be staying in our apartment for that time.

Thank you very much for your response.  it made me realize that my bun is ok.

oh I understand that feeling!  she is into two weeks after her op and she is just starting to be back to binking and running.  What I learned is to give it sometime.  I tent to automatically get scared but she is going through changes.

The good thing is that she is asking for your love!
