        Hey guys,

I need some advice and opinions. I am going to University this year after living alone with my free roam bunny rabbit in my flat, I have had to move out of my flat due to affordability as a single student on a minimum wage part time job and not much student loan. I have found a flatshare where I live for half the price I was paying living by myself and the roomie owns the property and is perfectly happy for my bunny to be in my room, the place is very luxurious and I’m very aware of the fact it is not mine, also the owner does not want a rabbit roaming free so for these reasons he is going to have to be enclosed.
The room isn’t a bad size but not massive so all I am able to fit in is an indoor hutch and an octagon 8 sided playpen at a stretch. I am just concerned that after my bunny being free roam and so happy where he was running around like a lunatic, he is not going to like being enclosed and I’m also worried the space would not be big enough for him to live happily (as I’m very aware that rabbits need more than a hutch to be happy and healthy).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do? And would a small 8 sided playpen approximately 1.5m x 1.5m be enough for a rabbit to occasionally run around in and be happy enough?

He is a minilop 11 months old.

If I’m not mistaken a mini lop isn’t that small so 1.5m x 1.5m doesn’t sound like it’s enough for it to exercise properly. How big is the hutch? If there’s enough room you could try to scrap the hutch and opt for a bigger sized pen so it’ll be a combined cage + playpen.

Another option for gaining Moe space is to get yourself a raised bunk bed that doesn’t have a second bed underneath and use that as cage space and then add a playpen onto that

Okay bunk beds is not an option I am 24 years old not 10 ?

My minilop is pretty tiny probably only about 12cm from his head to bum. But also I’ve found a pen which is 80cm in height, 160cm in length and 160cm in width ? so hopefully that should do the trick for him!

I understand that but it’s a good solution to get more space in any case. I know a coupe of people around your age who have a raised bed so that bun can have space underneath. But it is to personal taste of course.

A raised bed isn’t just for 10 year olds. As Azerane explained, it’d really give your bun a significant amount of extra space…160 x 160 really isn’t that big tbh.
