Hi Guys, its Olly Rabbit, me and my Mummy are so fed up of crazy people having parties everyday and night with loud music, so my Daddy called Mummy’s telephone with some good news, someone he knows has a bungalow (Small house with no upstairs.) its going to take a month to get it ready, the reason we decided to have a bungalow is because both Mummy and Daddy are disabled and no parties upstairs with loud music, I am going to be in the living room and be able to run about, but Mummy is worried, how does she keep me out of the kitchen and bathroom? Mummy thinks I might fall in the bath and water might be in it, I also like to climb, Mummy says if I climb in the kitchen I could get burnt or scolded, we will be getting one of those special cookers for pans that if a human puts its hand on they don’t get burnt, is it the same for rabbits? Do you think that baby gates would be an idea? But I can jump, here windows are closed because there are lots of foxes and cats, how do we bunny proof big windows so I don’t go on an adventure or stop cats getting in?

        Thank you from Olly xx

How nice you and your mom are able to move somewhere a bit more quiet. Does the bathroom have a sturdy, functional door? If so, if your Mummy just keeps it closed when it’s not in use, that will keep you out. If she needs to keep it open for accessibility, a baby gate can work as well!

For the kitchen, I too am sometimes worried about Wick getting hurt, but unless your Mummy usually drops hot pans around, you should be safe. Your Mummy will have to get used to you, because you’ll probably want to run around there a lot. A helpful tip is if your Mummy feeds you in your spot when she needs to use the kitchen, so you’re not tempted to go in.

Is there anywhere in the new kitchen you can actually manage to climb on the counters? If so, that’s amazing and yes, that’s something to think about.

About the cooktops that don’t affect human skin, I am unsure. Better safe than sorry, but I believe induction cooktops wouldn’t harm a rabbit. There are some articles online mentioning a “noise” induction tops make, but it doesn’t seem to bother dogs, so it may be okay for rabbits as well.
