Moving

So we might be moving to a new flat,(Apartment) above a shop, I would if we get this place, Olly to be out of his pen 99% of the time, but there are a lot of steps and I want to keep my baby safe, just like any bunny parent, bunnies are like toddlers, you need to keep a close eye on them all the time, but what if I’m on the phone and Olly see’s the stairs? I would be heartbroken and never forgive myself if Olly fell down, here we are in a ground floor home, I don’t know if he lived in a house before, if he can manage the stairs I wouldn’t want him going into the shop and get hurt, if we get this flat, how can I stop my baby going on stairs? If we get the place the landlord and his wife are lovely people, they are my friends, but I don’t want to ask for too much, do you think asking for a door at the top of the stairs would be a bit much to ask?

I like this flat and its near a veterinary hospital and of course the banana and veg shop, I don’t want to say yes and take the flat and then keep my boy in one room.

Is there no door separating your house on top of the stairs from the shop?

A baby gate may be a nice alternative. I’m unsure if the stairs lead directly to the shop or another part of the home, but if there aren’t that many and it’s carpeted, maybe Olly can manage. You may want to observe how he handles stairs. Maybe build some with cardboard boxes and see how he does/reacts.

I second the baby gate idea!
As an aside my two Rabbits have access to two stair cases they simply never bother with, they never go up or down them.
My other rabbit was able to manage the stairs perfectly, and actually enjoyed playing on them.
All rabbits are different with these things, but a gate might help ease your worries!
