Another game – tossing Mommy’s fingers!

More kisses from this evening ![]()

One more favorite game… tossing the stick!

the nutty stick ball!!
thats a HUGE favorite here
![]()
I always take the nut out because I wonder how long it’s been in there… lol
me too, plus i don’t like the idea of M&P chewing on nuts since they’re tummies arent meant for them.
I am officially stealing Momo. *bun naps*
Awes….SO precious!

ROFL! xD

Do you know, Fiver’s favorite thing in the world is to rearrange his chewing sticks and plushies from wherever I put them. It doesn’t matter if I think I’ve put them where he wants them, he makes a big show of, “NO mom…it goes over HERE!” and then a whole production of resorting begins. lol….
Must be a Rex thing. ^_^
haha! Rexes <3
..I wants a rex. *bunny naps Momo from Lintini, who bunnynapped momo from Lizzie* hehehe
noooooooooooo!
^_^
If it helps, I don’t think we’re gonna have any carpet left by the time we move…
Well, I’m not gonna help…I really think rexes and mini-rexes must be the most clever bunny breeds, Fiver is nothing short of conscientious, NEVER potties on my bed, only runs and zooms where he’s allowed and totally behaves himself around other pets, unless they’re trying to steal his toys. ^_^
The only drawback is that fur. It needs constant brushing to stay nice and if you even miss one day it starts coming out in tufts and it’s the kind that goes straight for your eyes. >.< Or up your nose. 0.o
Also, the minute he comes back from the vet he starts his worry shed. Loses an entire slot of it straight down his back.
‘Tis why I’m so jealous of Remy’s coat, it is TOO perfect!
I lint roll the poor thing. It’s not his fave.
Fiver won’t let the lint roller anywhere near him, he grunts and boxes and I’ve only touched him with it once! 0_o
I’m lucky I can get the grooming glove swept over him a few times a week, he tries to bite that (and of course my hand and exposed arm are in constant peril from that.)
Well, Remy doesn’t like it much, so I hold him while I do it. Momo just sees it as a challenge.
Can you tell me about how ‘tall’ their fur is? Meaning how far it stands out from their skin? I notice that where Fiver’s fur comes away (down to velvet they call it) it seems to be very short, but the fur that covers most of him is about 1/2 inch or more in length. Is it supposed to be that long or is that overcoat that needs to come off?
Oh gosh I dunno… I think that sounds about right. It’s probably different for each bun. Momo’s is a little shorter than Remy’s and a bit less soft, but then again she sheds way less.
Do you ever pull out a tuft that has a tiny bit of skin attached at the bottom? It looks like they pulled it out by grooming themselves or scratching or something. It doesn’t happen often, but I was wondering if that was normal…
Um, no I can’t say I’ve ever had that happen. 0_o Have you ever asked your vet about it?
I do notice that Fiver’s fur is multicolored from the top to the bottom of the shaft. It starts out brownish on the outer ends, then goes almost completely white at the inner end, with a little grey in between. It would probably make pretty yarn (just the discarded fur, I mean…lol.)
haha! Well they do have several bunny breeds that make beautiful yarn ; )
I personally prefer merino wool because it’s so soft!
Just found a thread started by Jerseygirl about tufts of hair with a “plug” at the end. Apparently some buns just shed like that. Jerseygirl was awesome enough to post pictures, so I feel way better now.
Then Hedi said that her mini rexes shed like that too. Binkybunny said she found them mostly on the cheeks, which is really the only place Remy and Momo’s have had them.
So… phew! I wasn’t too worried because I just took them to meet their new vet, who said they were both extremely healthy, even if Momo is a little chubby.
Thank goodness for this website…! I never have to go anywhere else to answer my bunny questions!
Lizzie, can you re-post the link to that thread by Jersey? I think Leroy’s fur sometimes comes out like that and I was wondering about it.
Also, Leroy’s fur is multicolored down the shaft. He is white with grey spots but beneath the grey, it’s tan!
The fur on his body is about 1/2 inch long. And as for shedding… I don’t know what you guys are talking about! I never need to groom him with a brush or lint roller… it gets a little dangerous around here when he’s blowing his coat but… that’s only happened once since I got him.
Btw, adorable pictures Lizzie!
Thanks Barbie! i will post to that thread so you can see : D
lol, Momo just pulled my glasses down so she could lick my eye
Great pics!
Silly Momo!
All of my pets have had fur come out with the “plug” thing on it.
I almost forgot – Kay loves the “Toss the finger” game too!
I want to play toss the finger with Kay!
I don’t think she will though… maybe if I bring about two million raisins : P
Mimz, if my memory doesn’t fail me: Fiver could be an agouti rex, agouti comes out differently in rexy coats. Also, isn’t he part Astrex? This would affect the way his fur springs out from his body.
I noticed that Lint’s fur is slightly longer than Neigey’s, this makes Neigey plushier than Lint but Lint sleeker than Neigey. Supposedly white fur iis a tad shorter than other colors.
Love Momo the ‘retriever bunny’!
— Lint has to rearrange any sticks in his space, too, and once he’s done, if I touch one stick, he starts over! LOL.
OH I love those photos of Momo, evening kisses!! Lola would take my lip off if I tried that…lol
(sneaks into monkey’s house and naps Momo who napped her from Lintini)
Lola’s hair seems short too, I think plushie is the perfect word for it. Doesn’t fee like fur, just a big, incredibly soft poof ball. I squint at her and imagine her sleek like Momo.
lol, dang… Momo’s gettin around!
I Love Momo! I love the pic with the little stick! She really displays how a Mini-Rex fur is supposed to look…supa plush!!!!
Oooops. I hate when I double post or triple post…I’m not very bright apparently, can someone please delete it?![]()
Please?
Petzy I don’t know if we ever really determined if Fiver was part Astrex. I just thought maybe his fur was growing wavy since I wasn’t brushing it enough because he likes to eat my hand if I try.
An Agouti Rex? *confused* But he’s a tortie, isn’t he?
lolz at our OB/COMP rexy bunnies who must have all their things in certain spots…lmao…I should’ve called Fiver MONK instead! xD
He must be a torte then, I forget that torte has the color bands also on each hair shaft.
The Astrex gene is very rare but it turns up in the gene pool of the rexes. Grooming will not create a crimp in a rex coat. He might well have some astrex. Think about it, in the beginning, rex coat turned up as a mutation and didn’t look at all like our rexes now. They had sparse coats then, only selective breeding led to our plush-coated rexes. The astrex gene may work the same way, you would have to breed for it to get it to come out to its fullest. Maybe Elrohwen will do some research, I have found little.
