  Im probably just worrying too much but my lop Juniper has lost a large patch of fur around her shoulder blade area (it’s not bare there’s a thin layer but it’s pink underneath. Maybe just because she’s white). I’m guessing this is what molting is but I’m just concerned because she’s never molted before and it seems strange for her to only molt once a year and right before winter of all times. However we found her October 16th of last year so we’ve only had her almost a year. Is it possible/normal for her to be molting out of the blue? Obviously it’s possible she’s molted in the past given that we have no info on her (we don’t even know how old she is). She also tends to have crusties around her nose sometimes but otherwise seems perfectly normal.
  Someone ease my mind please, we just got a new bunny to bond with her once she’s spayed and if theres something wrong and I should take her to the vet I don’t want Goji to catch it too (it started before we got him so she didn’t contract anything from him)

  If the skin isnt flaky or like crusty and it feels normal she may just be a heavy molter. She probably is molting her summer coat so she can grow a thick one for winter. One more thing is Goji neutered ?

  Yes Goji is neutered. She didn’t molt before summer began, that seems backwards lol. It does look normal though. So I’m assuming it will continue over the rest of her body? If so I’ll brush her to help out a bit

  She will have bald patches but wont go hairless completely , make sure you check that its just heavy shedding and not for a medical reason. You have to brush her EVERY single day if she is shedding that much to stay away from GI stasis.

  You should see the new fur growing in shortly so be on the look out. You’ll know for sure that she’s just molting if you see regrowth. Some bunnies will have heavy molts and they will look patchy and “rough”. Other bunnies shed continuously with small amounts coming out all over.
